Stick with 116600 OR get a 16610LV?

I now have 2 beautiful Sea-Dwellers and find myself lusting after another 16610LV. My 126600 is a definite keeper so I am contemplating selling my 116600 to fund a nice 16610LV. I quite like the idea in my mind of having a 50th Anniversary Sub and 50th Sea-Dweller.

I’d sell it and buy the LV. Something poetic about owning two 50th references

Flip for sure....SD50 and 50th Anniversary Sub? A really dynamic duo!

That and the SDc does nothing for me (but I love the SD50).

If you love your sd4k, there's a good chance you'll regret selling it down the road, imo. It has become a unique reference for it's very short run.

126600 and LV would make a great duo.

LV would be neat if they haven’t been producing it for 7 years as an anniversay model. In my personal opinion it’s a very ugly watch. I know I’ll get flack for that but just not very appealing. I’d stick with what you have.

SD4K has all the nice upgrades without being bloated; it's a great watch!!! LV is old style but the 4K matches old style profile with new style technology.

Go for it, i know the 116600 is popular but I think the maxi dial and super case are all wrong on a 40mm SD. I do like the ceramic bezel though.

Do it... especially if u like the older 5 digits.
Since u already have the new SD.

The 116600 was good watch..but too similar to the sub in diameter size, but with thicker casing which made it more top heavy.

I realize many love theirs... but it wasn’t a good seller for Rolex, IMO.
Hence, the big changes made for the SD 50th anniversary.

IMHO, rolex wanted to make the SD43 special, and differentiate the sd from the much more popular subs.
....and they hit it out of the park.

Many believe the short-lived 116600 will be collectible item.
Perhaps. But at least not for another 40+ years (once again, my opinion. Lol)

The SD43 value will rise, faster than most other Rolex sports watches (just like the 16610LV) once the 5-6 years pass and Rolex replaces it with another SD.

Thread is worthless without pics... so here are my two 50s

Flip SD for the LV. If possible, add glidelock.

this is a joke right?

The SD43 might as well be the Submariner XL. Identical but in 43mm.

As for the 116600? 40 years???? The 16610LV was discontinued approx 8 years ago and look at its value spike. It had a 7 year run.

The 116600 had approx 30 month run. Much much much much much more 'rare' than the 16610LV. That basically means in the Rolex world a surefire slam dunk collectors piece that will more than likely blow past the 16610LV in value at some point. Not a matter of if but when.

Past history ensures the 116610 is a 'lock'. Wait and see how much they increase in value over the next 24 months.

To put in perspective. For every 100 16610LVs in the wild there MIGHT be 30-40 SD4K's.

Tough one and not a choice I'd like to have to make. You might regret getting rid of the SD4K.

Lol are u serious ?
Have u even looked at the two ??

The sub is obviously boxy.... while the SD43 has more tapered look.

Please do some research before u say things that’s simply not true.

And yeah, I still don’t think the sd4k will be valuable collectible until decades pass.

U r simply basing it on number of pieces out there....
But that won’t affect the value too much until looooooooooong time passes.
The value of the sd4k will rise similar to other Rolex sports watches until then.

I don’t even think my LV is such a collectible item yet.
When I hear collectible, I think of 5513 sub or 6542 gmt.
Perhaps our idea of what is “collectible” is different

Once again that’s my opinion.... but it’s a fact that SD43 is NOT identical (xl) to sub.

Nope. All I see is a Big Submariner.

As for the SD4k? my statement is based on fact based evidence from the 16610LV. Yes pieces out there matter. Hence why standard Submariners are not really 'collectible'.

As much as I love the 116600, I like the idea of the two 50th pieces. I think it would also be nice to get some color in ther. Go for it!

Trade the 116600. I'm already excited to read your thread five years hence when you lament getting rid of the mint 116600 that you had.

Clyde Bruckman says that that can't happen unless you make this bad trade decision now.

Truth be told. Keep the 116600. Its a no brainer.

Purchase a 16610LV

Best of Both worlds although you will pay a big premium right now for the 16610LV

Buy 'preowned' full kit. Never buy NOS @ a premium because the second you take the stickers off and wear it becomes 'preowned'.

I'm biased towards the LV because I own one.
I found the 116600 to be top heavy and chunky for my wrist.
To each his own.
