I went ice dive/fishing on a frozen lake in the northern Rockies about ten years ago. It was about 20 below zero (F) and we drove our trucks out on the ice to get to the spot. The ice was 3 feet thick, covered with snow, and the sunlight underwater was barely a dim glow. We used underwater lights to find the fish in about 50 feet of water. The catfish were sitting ducks and we shot plenty (nothing is better eating than catfish caught in cold water, except maybe hot cocoa after you climb out of the ice hole).

It will be in about a week and then I can get one of my favorites......smoked eel.

My trusted fisherman will go out, drill a hole and catch them and then flat smoke them before delivery.
