No Love for VC??
I am looking at the VC Harmony Chronograph or the Calendar myself but cannot justify buying new since they tank in resale.
However, trying to find one on the used market has been a tough fine too. Why no love for them? |

buying used makes more sense and I would look at going that route myself even though im pretty insistent on buying new for the other brands in my collection. The Harmony i particularly like. The Chrono, the dual time (since i generally prefer white metals), and the calendar are all very nice. |

Ironically, it might be the low resale value that discourage VC owners from selling their watches. Like Tyler said, most will only buy them if they are sure they will keep it.
Same can be said of Breguet, JLC, or any brands that are not AP/Patek/Rolex.

Totally agree... while I dont buy a watch as an investment or for speculation, given it is a significant purchase, and even I might not plan to sell it, I still need to know a piece I bought today is not 30-40pct lower the next day in the secondary market (I had this experience with a breguet and 2 JLCs when I started :) )
However I also agree with benlee. Outside the overseas models, I dont see a lot of second hand VCs in the secondary market. |

I like the VC but the resale, even on the pre-owned models, is at best difficult. I have almost made the leap several times but with as much as I trade and move watches around I will not take the hit. There are a lot of great watches around that you can buy at a discount that will hold most of the value. VC is not one though.

I do really like some VCs but I'll probably never own one.

There are several VC designs that speak to me. In particular the 1921 and the new triple calendar they released.
For me it’s tough because as you said, lnib examples are harder to come by and also I don’t have a good contact for New VC as my AD no longer carries them. (Hodinkee) (Watches by SJX)

The Cornes de Vache and their simple Traditionelle dress watch are amazing. Everything else to me is meh.

I get the whole resale issue, but bought at the right price I think they are a great watch. The new overseas Chrono is one of my favorites in my collection...I really like the quick change strap system and exhibition case back. I also like having a unique watch that almost nobody in my everyday life has ever seen before. I will say I did have to send it in for service under warranty for an issue with the spring.

I actually really like VC. I'm in the market for the new overseas with the blue dial. I like the 1942 triple calendrier as well. Really excited to see what they're going to announce at SIHH in the next couple of days too.

Poor VC. They weren't even included in that lame Moser watch.

I like some of VC's stuff. The new Overseas is quite nice, and some of their dress pieces are nicer than the equivalent PP IMO. I've been to the VC boutique in Toronto a number of times to check out pieces as I am pretty friendly with one of the sales reps there.
As others have said, the dreadful resale value keeps me away from them as I have serious commitment issues when it comes to watches - watches I keep telling myself I'll keep forever do end up on the chopping block. |

I like some VC models, but most of them are definitely out of reach for me. The more usual offerings are okay but they compete with many other models from different manufactures that I like better.

Echoing many others, big fan of the watches but not much discount and then tough resale puts me off, esp when other brands are flying, altho I prefer the discoed 2 gen VCO which is selling at a great price but now hard to find.

I guess we are all in the same boat.
Nothing in the second market, not a whole lot of discount to offset how much it tanks.... Bummer. I might still get the Calendar...no who am I kidding. I probably won't. |

I'll post a couple of pictures from my recent visits to the Toronto boutique:
Interesting ultra-thin automatic piece in platinum with diamond baguette markers - the hands are really unique and look like they're painted on the dial: Beautiful manual wind in platinum with a dial crafted of platinum. Even the stitching on the strap is made of platinum wire. Overseas perpetual - I handled this one on a previous visit and love the heft and ability to change straps with the quick release: Perpetual Calendar Chronograph: On two visits, I was offered unlimited espresso and a box of chocolates to take home with me: Overall, I was very impressed with the service and some of their designs, less so at their pricetags. I was told they wouldn't discount anything at the boutique, when I thought some of the MSRPs were pretty optimistic (the first PT dresswatch above was about 50K USD MSRP) - and who wants to lose at least 50% in value walking out the door? |

After years of struggle to go completely in-house they release a new watch with a sourced movement? At least JLC should have supplied it like back in the day. The bad thing is that the movement is the least of the watch’s problem. The case looks like a nightmare (chockingly since making simple dress watches was their thing) and the guy responsible for slapping dates on Longines “tribute” watches came around a put a date in the middle of the dial. Time will tell if going down market was a clever move, I’m guessing this will not help them at all.
Oh by the way this was a comment on their new entry watch. I’m a bit forum rusty. |

just the way it is for some brands/models. if you really like it, make sure your going to enjoy it long enough to justify the loss.

Yeah, I'm in the market for an overseas model and can only consider second-hand market since there are no retail shops close. The more I look at them the more I like them, yet prices are steep especially for some examples without boxes or papers.
The multiple strap options are very nice though! |

Has anyone came across this LE Patrimony? I was told only 75pcs were made. In WG case and a stunning guilloche sunburst grey dial. What's not nice is the price. Roughly USD30K.
