Stinking Jeweler's Mutual refused to cover my Rolex

Well guys,

I submitted my application to Jeweler's Mutual and they said they will not insure my Rolex while in Kuwait. What a shame!

I don't have many other options except to leave it at home for a year or to sell it or take my chances.

I know I could insure it via my home owner's policy, but there are many risks associated with that choice. (lose your Rolex and your whole policy premium goes up in price for many years!!!!).

I am in a quandary as to what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just take it with you. It'll be safe, it's not like you're going to battle.

can it be covered under your "travel insurance" or some sort of cover from your work policy?

Can you call you insurance agent and ask if they have any options?

A safe deposit Box is about $80 a year Richard, not a bad option.

travel insurance covers belongings, you may have to extend the cover for a rolex though.

My US Bank safe deposit box is 35 bucks/year

However, I'd just wear it...it could provide you some major bargaining leverage if the need arises...........

Have you tried State Farm Insurance. I have a personal article policy on my fiances ring. It is like $100-$150 for a year. No deductible, and it doesn't matter where you are if/when you loose or damage your item.

Some of the these watches sure do lead a pampered life. :) I find that fact that you wont leave the country without insurance on your Rolex...a little bit funny. :) Put the darn thing on your wrist, and enjoy yourself. You have more of a chance of getting robbed in any major USA metro city, vs Kuwait City. I used to live in Kuwait...VERY safe. :)

Are you at all associated with the US Govt, or the military? If so, give USAA a call. You might also look into a rider on your home owners, specifically for jewelry and watches. If you use the rider when/if you lose the watch, I think the rider only goes up, not your entire policy (only speculating here, as I don't really know for sure).

Good luck.

The probability of theft is low, wear the watch and get the rider on your home owner's. Your watch isn't meant to sit in your safe/

Sounds prudent to me. In the meantime, buy a "Kuwait" watch.

insured with your homeowners and bring it with you unless you have another one which will satisfy you and you can live a year without your Rolex. It'll be hard for me.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

If I can't insure it while living in Kuwait, it will go in the safe deposit box. Still trying.

Could not agree more they have quite a good deterant for any thieves over there. Was there for several weeks early 2000 felt a lot safer there than walking around large towns even in Wales late at night. And I am sure you could get insurance to cover your watches world wide mine did.I lost SD in the Red Sea it was replaced full retail price by my all risks diving insurance.
