Any fans of Digital "Watchboxes"?
Ran across the digital watch boxes found on Govbergs and Chrono24's apps/websites recently.
I felt it was an interesting way to keep tract of my watch collection. I like being able to add photos and descriptions for the watches. And interesting to see the value that the website puts on them. (Wrong more often than they are right in my opinion. Mostly inflated. Some very low on Govbergs) I preferred Chrono24's, because they pre-populate the entry with a stock photo of the watch. And my Impression is that they are not sellers of watches themselves, unlike Govbergs, so I feel there is no motivation for them to comb my "watch box" to see if I am willing to sell anything. I was wondering what other people felt about them. No home addresses is required, so it does not seem like a security risk to store the information on there sites. |

I thought it was cool and then put a my current watches in there and saw how much $ I've spent. Doesnt even include what I've flipped and got really depressed.

I have a couple of 1980's Casio's that I use as a daily wear when working, one of which I recently had the battery replaced, a quick look on the internet had it listed for £150... cant recall how much it was at the time but it wouldn't have been very much... Retro Rocks these days,

Maybe I should have titled it a "virtual reality" watch box.
If you have not seen it yet, go to Chrono24, click on the menu, top left corner on phones. Select "myChrono24", then select "watch collection". Where you can type in the model of your watch and save it. |

It sounds like more data mining to me. You don't need a home address to compromise your privacy, your machine ID is usually enough to identify you.
Data mining is very lucrative. If you didn't pay for the service, you are the product. If you did pay for the service, the service provider just got paid twice. I'll stop now. My tinfoil hat is getting itchy |
