Red Submariner for Baselworld 2018?
Any chance there will be a Red Submariner with a 3235 movement on Baselworld 2018?

A mouth watering prospect of a Sub Special Edition theme release would be more convincing in Baselworld 2023

Agreed, a 70th anniversary makes more sense than a 65th.

As long as it’s crafted in Platinum.... If it can be made in YG and WG then why not make it in RG or Platinum?

I think they´ll first start with the GMT´s and then with the subs.. like in 2005 with the super case.. and first on the PM models...

Doubt it, though. |

I think the only possible change to the sub would be the 3235. Don’t think they would redesign the case after such a short run . It’s not like it’s the black sheep SD.

Maybe it’s just me — but the only Red line sub that interests me is a 1680...

Red doesn't work underwater.
The longest wavelengths, with the lowest energy, are absorbed first. Red is the first to be absorbed, followed by orange & yellow. The colors disappear underwater in the same order as they appear in the color spectrum. Even water at 5ft depth will have a noticeable loss of red. |

As long as we're speculating, how about this: 2028 will be the 75th anniversary of the Submariner, which is a more meaningful anniversary than the 70th. It will also be 20 years since the debut of the six-digit Sub Date (in PM). The previous five-digit Sub model (16610) was in production for a good 20-plus years before it got replaced, so 20 years is a good estimate for the life cycle of the current model. That makes 2028 an ideal year for a new Sub design that also coincides with an anniversary edition. In the meantime, Rolex drops the new movement into the existing designs, slaps an M onto the reference numbers, but otherwise makes no aesthetic changes for another ten years. Those of us predicting/clamoring for a newly designed Sub are left to suck it.
