40mm Submariner vales to skyrocket
I am looking for a new Submariner 40mm date at UK AD but cant find one currently.
Could a new 43mm Submariner with the new movement will be showcased at Basel 2018? Three London AD have advised me to wait till May 2018 as they are changes in the Submariner line in regards to size and lug proportion. |

If they make the Sub a thinner version of the new sd50 I’d be a happy man!

Any new sub will IMO be in gold of some form not SS. The issue is location. You can source one outside of London if you try hard enough. Two northern dealers have advised under 6 months now for me and stock is trickling through.

If there are changes in thw sub it won't be 43, because there is a sd in that size.
I hope they introduce the new movement with thinner lugs in 40mm. I'll be buying one for sure |

Probably they read one of those random “my AD told me” threads on TRF

Has there ever been a submariner that was not 40 mm case diameter? I know the current line is all 40 mm but does anybody know about the discontinued ones?

While I do not expect that they will make a 43mm Sub, the fact that their is a 43mm sd is fairly irrelivent. The SD grew, but still wears the same face as the SD has an inset (?). A 43mm Sub with a larger face and without the thickness of the 43mm Sub would be a very different watch. That and iirc the 43mm SD is rarely seen in an AD, 5e entire push was the super fat DS.

I think the sub should remain at 40mm but if they do make it bigger 41mm would work.

No reason whatsoever to assume that Rolex won’t increase the size of the sub to say 41 mm Although when you see a 116610 beside a 16610 it looks like they’ve done that already. Edit. Found this post https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...37&postcount=5

I have phoned a couple of AD’s outside of my area and they will only place customers with a local postcode on their waiting lists for some reason.

local address post code sharing coming soon to TRF. You need a specific post code to meet AD requirements? Check the for sale section as im sure they will be rented out.

You could get somebody else to register for you? Or give them somebody else's postcode. They're not going to start asking for proof of address. |

Rolex is always moving very slowly. I very much doubt there will be some changes to the Sub if they are also making some changes to the GMT the same year.

As usual AD's know nothing except: If it is not in stock then you should wait because a new one will be out. If it is in stock you should buy because the price will go up. Such drivel

If anything most here are predicting a slimming down of the case so it wears more like 40/41mm now. I think a 43mm is very unlikely and can't believe Rolex will issue a watch in two sizes like Omega now. I don't know if the larger watch trend of a few years ago is over or not, which was when Rolex decided to make the watch wear bigger without officially altering the golden 40mm stated size. I am moving down to smaller watches so I might be biased, as I like my Pateks and then find my Subc feels very big afterwards, but as there is a lot of new and young money coming into watches at the moment maybe the larger trend is still on. |

If they keep it at 40mm with thinner lugs, I will be elated. My fear is at least 41mm.

I bought a sub last month because if it does change it will be a while before it hits the stores and the maxi case has its fans ,as for changes maybe 41mm slimmer lugs and new movement IE a new watch .

I ended up finding a mint lightly used Sub instead and saved a lot so I went that route instead. When I bought my Explorer a couple months ago; same thing. They'll gladly take my cash and gave me a great deal on the watch also, but I had to get my brother in law to pick it up and he shipped to me. |

I'm hoping for Basel to showcase a SS Sub no date, with thinner lugs and smaller crown guards, 40mm is good for me
