Triple 6 or Kermit?
I used to have a 16610LV but I let it go. It is the only watch I sold that I find myself thinking about sometimes.
Now I am thinking about adding a new piece and here I am hesitating between the SD 16660 matte dial and the kermit 16610LV that I already had. Both have pros and cons. I could use some neutral advice... wich one would you choose and why? The SD in the picture is from @andygreenlive Thanks in advance. |

Brilliant duo. :)
The SD is a looker, but the LV is a keeper. The LV can flex inserts - and the SD will sure indeed be a concern in just a few years when it comes to service.... |

Why the SD and not a black Submariner, out of curiosity?

Tough choice, both have qualities I love.. But, if I had to pick one, 16660 matte dial.

Sorry but I have to weight in here...I own both and it's the triple 6 matte dial.....it's not close for me. If you can source a nice example of the triple 6 matte, run do not walk.

Depends on condition, but I’d lean towards the Kermit. I truly feel that it will appreciate in value as long as you are able to keep the bezel in decent shape. That is an awesome problem to have btw!!

Hard to go wrong with either one but the LV wears better than the SD.

I have had my V series 16610LV since 2009 and its a keeper. I also have had an matte 16660 from 1983. Both great watches, but I prefere the LV. I like the Green/black look and prefere the comfort from the sub over the SD.

tough one.
but i'd say 666 because there's simply far fewer good ones around and its one of the few special reference sport 5d's to those in the know in this watch collecting sub culture. its instant wis street cred which is unique today with all the marketed special editions and numbered production runs. rolex fans made the 666 special all on their own. and how cool is a 666 reference! where the LV is a fine watch, but it seems to have been forced as being special because rolex says its special. call me old fashion. |

For me I would say go for the LV . It's got the best of old & new features ,plus it's got the green insert .

if you can get a triple six that looks something like the one in the pic, then 666 all the way. That really is something special. The LV is just a sub with a green insert.

The Kermit all day every day I’m afraid.
I think it really is a stunning watch and stands out from the crowd. Prices on both will no doubt keep rising but it the 50th anniversary watch of the venerable Submariner. Does it get better ?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
