Pics Stolen from TRF and ending soon!

Chek out this eBay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-GMT-II-167...mZ160300178076

Bidding is up to $3550 and it ends in 18 hours. No feedback seller of course. Don't bother to read the story which has more internal inconsistencies than seemingly possible for such a short paragraph.

Instead, check out this TRF classified ad: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=58631

Spot any similarities?

Unless our member gone2Vegas from Irvine has moved to Canada, this thing needs to be killed YESTERDAY!

I just put a bid on it that no one will beat on the off chance it doesn't get killed before it ends.....

Those are definitely my pictures! Thanks for the heads up gingi. I've reported it to eBay so hopefully it gets taken down.

Oh man, that's scary...there should be a sticky in the for sale forum to put your forum ID next to the watch to prevent people from stealing pics. We do that in another forum I'm a member of and it has cut down 80% of the ebay scams that are stealing the pictures.

Awesome! This idiot is probably so excited that the bidding went so high. You should ask them what the serial number is. I don't think you can see it in the pics. Maybe ask for pics of the caseback too.

I think I'm going to have to start watermarking my Rolex pics. I'm disappointed that eBay didn't stop the auction.

I e-mailed the seller asking to meet him at a Rolex AD; no response yet.

I did get an e-mail back from eBay after the auction ended, explaining that they will not do anything about the watch:

Dear gingi310,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with this information. I
understand how this situation could be of some concern.

I have reviewed the information that you provided regarding the use of
images or text in item number 160300178076, but at this point find that
I do not have enough evidence to show that the member has violated any
eBay rules.

Regrettably, we will only be able to take action if the owner of the
images or text writes to us. In some instances, sellers may have
obtained permission to use the material. Therefore, we often cannot
remove listings based on the representations of third parties whose
credentials we cannot verify.

We do understand the potential for further issues in this type of
situation. That is why, if you feel strongly about this issue, we
recommend that you contact the owner of the images or text, and
recommend that they contact us directly. Once we hear from them, we will
take appropriate action.

We appreciate you taking the time to contact us with your concerns.
Thank you participating in the eBay community.

Sincerely,
Claude

eBay Customer Support

What a joke! Also, gone2vegas, the real owner of the watch ALSO reported it, but they still let it run to the end! I am glad I "purchased" it....

This watch did get sold. I reported it to a contact at E-Bay so that they can stop the sale of the watch from going through.

Terry - don't worry - I "won" the item, and trust me, the seller won't be seeing a dime. More here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=58727

I remember this though, the seller may go to the next bidder in line and try to get them to buy it, claiming that the buyer backed out. It will be better if E-Bay puts the squash on it.

Thanks for buying it though. You helped get a scammer caught up in his scam.

Ah Terry, you were the one with the contact at eBay! Glad you contacted them. I am the owner of the pictures and I did report it as gingi310 said, but they did not end the auction.

The response I got said I would have to enroll in a verification program eBay has if I want to end a listing that stole my images. I'm just going to watermark them from now on.

This situation more than anything else proves to me that EBAY IS A JOKE WHEN IT COMES TO FRAUD PROTECTION! This really steams me - they have at least 3 people (me, gone2vegas (the OWNER of the f*&^%ing pictures!) and Terry) report the watch, which is a $5k+ item being sold by a zero feedback seller and THEY WON'T CANCEL THE AUCTION!

Aargh!
