Could this be a sneak preview of Basel Rolex Sub Black DLC and Gold Hercules116613?

Saw this on Fleabay and like the way it looks. I really like the date disc in black and gold. The black and gold really works for me.

Black & Gold Submariner 116613

I wonder about DLC - Would clear DLC coating on all models models create a buzz if Rolex announced they would be doing this at Basel? They would be more scratch resistant. Then with the policy of removing stickers now seemingly falling into place, they won't have to worry as much about staff scratching the new in box watches at ADs.

I would like to see Rolex do an all black model one day. The SeaDweller 43 would be a great candidate. However, I would hope they'd go the all ceramic route instead of PVD or DLC coating. The Panerai Ceramica 438 makes for a good example.

I have yet to understand why, after seeing some random customization or prediction, some people start to think Rolex will actually do it. Beyond the fact it exists because someone did it custom, what reason do you have for thinking the watch on ebay would actually be a "sneak preview" of Rolex's offerings in Basel this year?

No shot.

Btw, what's the difference between PVD and DLC?

Not to trash Invicta, but it kind of looks like something Invicta would do.

I don't think it's a bad looking watch and certainly if Rolex were to do it, it would be done right with 18kt. solid gold PCLs and a solid gold bezel.

It's not the kind of thing I would expect that Rolex will do, but I've seen quite a few watches that Rolex released to the howls of the WIS community that have become quite popular.
