Paying to Bypass the Line

You can pay the bouncer at a club to bypass the line.

You can pay at a restaurant to get a table immediately.

You can pay to avoid standing in line for rides at DisneyWorld.

You can pay to drive in express lanes to get somewhere faster.

Now, the latter two are more official than the former two. But the point is you can pay a business/person to get things faster in different areas of life.

Has anyone paid someone at an AD to bypass the list for a hot watch?

Sure. Pay the dealer for a couple of gold models, you might even get your hot SS watch then and there, if not soon.

I think the OP may be referring to directly paying, as opposed to purchasing other watches.

Yes pay a premium for the model, look at the other thread ADs are apparently charging premium but discreetly it seems to selected customers

Well, paying higher gray market prices puts you at the front of the line. Doubt an AD could take payment or other favors to bump you up the list and hopefully never comes to that. I think lists are rather flexible based on other posts I've seen here. I personally don't need any watch that bad to start paying extra for the "privilege". Cheers!

I know what he meant, I'm telling him how to do it in real life. It's well known around here that spending big bucks at a dealer curries favor. It's also well known that buying PM models first or along with can make hot watches appear. Offering the manager/owner a "tip" would likely be laughed at.

I don't tip because society says I have to. Alright, I mean I'll tip if somebody really deserves a tip. If they put forth the effort, I'll give them something extra. But I mean, this tipping automatically, it's for the birds.

Haha. I have over a thousand posts so you can be sure I'm well aware of how to buy watches from greys or buying PM from an AD first before being offered a hot watch.

I should have asked my question more carefully. Have you ever given cash to someone in the Rolex AD to be able to move from somewhere down on the list to magically at the top of the list?

I should have said "Rolex AD" in my original post so the thread wasn't moved. I am specifically talking about hot Rolex watches. I don't know of too many people getting on lists to buy a Tag.

Someone buys all the tickets for the rides and then wants to charge you double for one.

You would be happy with that - right?

That is exactly what happens at many concerts and plays. A reseller buys many/most of the tickets from the venue or promoter and then sets his own price for the show. I refuse to participate in this type of arrangement.

So... You're asking if anyone skips the being a great customer step and goes straight to bribing the manager for a watch.

I am not sure this counts as paying to bypass the line... I was in an AD with a friend last year (a TRF member) and we were asking about the ceramic Daytona. He was told if he purchased the Daytona, AND a ladies DJ for his wife (I think it was WG) he would get the next C Daytona that arrived. Does that count as paying for bypassing the line? Or is it just a good business practice (or a bad one)?

I avoid standing in lines at Disney by not going there.

I have a Fastrak pass to avoid the lines on the 15 freeway that I gladly pay to get home quicker. Plus, on the motorcycle I can use the HOV lanes for free and I can lane split.

Bundling is dealing, not bribing. I think the OP is talking about bribing staff with cash.
