Sold the 126600 and went to a 114060

Did anyone else not bond with the SD43?

I was very happy when I purchased the new SD43 last June but as time went on I just could never get over the fish eye and the thickness of the watch. Sold the SD43 and picked up the ND sub recently. I really enjoy the simplicity as well as it being thinner.

My choice as well, very happy after wearing larger and thicker watches.

You can't beat the SubC. I think the SD43 is overrated. Congrats!

I also enjoy the cleaner bezel and gloss dial.

I much prefer the 126600 but it is all a matter of personal taste.

The 114060 is an awesome watch. I owned one for a year or so. I ended up flipping it for a 16610LV. I don’t regret flipping it (I still have a 116618LN) but it’s probably the perfect modern SS Rolex. TBO, if I decide to replace it, I’ll probably go with a 14060 two liner.

I did the reverse of what you did. Had the 114060 for about 8 months before trading it in for the SD43. For me, I enjoy the Sea Dweller for amongst many, the reasons you ended up going to the Sub. You’re happy now with the SubC and that’s all that matters, congrats!

So our taste does change over time I guess? I bought the SD43 a month ago then purchased the ND Sub last week just because I didn’t want to miss out the chance to buy a SS Rolex sport watch when I saw one at an AD.

Up to now I still can’t take off my SD43 - it’s so nice to look at on my wrist - and so I can’t see when I would want to put on the ND Sub.

I was considering selling my ND Sub but then I wonder if one day I will get tired of looking at SD43 after all it’s not as classic as the sub.

People here in TRF opined that I should keep both so I’m going to hold onto them for the time being.

The SD43 and the Submariner ND-C are my two favorite watches in the SS Diver line-up. I have thought about adding in the 114060 to go with my SD43. There are several other watches that I will add before I do that but I could see owning both in the future.

Obviously it's a personal choice but I see owning both as the ideal situation.

I'd never give up the SD43 but since having the 114060 I do appreciate it's simplicity and comfort on the wrist

It all comes down to preferences, I picked my 116610LN over the SD43 for the size as well..

I didn't bond with the SD43 either, I only wore it once before selling it and getting a116622 blue. It was because it was too thick for me.

Pretty compelling argument to get both!

Both great but I own and much prefer the Submariner. The bigger cousin won't fit my chicken wrist anyway.

Nice. I too, prefer smaller watches, the 40mm size for the SubC ND is my preference.

All about the wrist size. The Sub (congrats BTW), looks great on your wrist, due to the lugs reaching nearly the outside edge (at least that's how it appears in your photo) of your wrists. The SD43 probably dwarfed your wrist size.

For me, it's just the opposite. My wrist size is a hair over 8", and my BLNR looks almost small by comparison, whereas my SD43 is near perfect fit. MY BLNR is my weekly wearer under my sleeves, and my SD goes on at night and over the weekends when I don't have to dress up. That simple.

In the end, your happiness and excitement are all that matters. Glad it worked out for you.

Cheers!

COULD NOT stand the giant bezel on the SD43. Hated it, went back to my DSSD, Subs, SD4k, etc... Otherwise, it was great. The bezel overwhelms the case. And i'm far from the only one in those thoughts.

Think most ppl are just drawn to the sd43 due to the red words everyone goes crazy and hype over it. It wasn't really about the thickness etc that they liked abt the watch, it's just abt the red words, if the nd had red words instead lets see how many would ditch the sd43 for it instead. ND is the clear choice

I’m partial to the 114060 as well. I’m coming up 36 mm and recently picked up the 114060 at my AD. While I love the SD43 it’s too big on my wrist.

That’s an interesting take. Can a little red really make all the difference?

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. IMO the bezel fits the watch rather well, I would never have imagined that being an issue. Overall size or weight, yes.

Oh there are plenty of other reasons to like the SD43 beyond the red text:
- Appropriately sized lugs. This addresses a significant shortcoming in current GMT/Sub lineup.
- Brand new movement with a significant upgrade in power reserve
- Wider bracelet, ties into the proper bracelet:case ratio

Let's see if they 'fix' the Sub this year, the maxi case version would suddenly become the red headed step child! You'd be able to pick one up for 4-5k no problem.
