Automatics like PAM 88 no clear caseback.
Is this because the auto winder "wedge" (sorry guys - As much as I wish I was more of a WIS - I'm just not their yet with the terminology) would just be in the way of the beautiful movement we see on manual PAMS? I know the 270 has clear back but the "winder" is in the way a bit. Any thoughts?
Thanks - I probably have neglected to mention for awhile that I LOVE TRF!

I'd hazard a guess that it's due to the 7750 being a bit of a workhorse movement and not that pretty, maybe also a lack of any engraving by Panerai?

In all honesty, it's just cosmetic, i have argued the point before about Panerai using ETA and not really doing anything with it, but the way i meant it was by taking a proven design, taking it apart and then improving it, engraving it and making it look nice really doesn't do anything to the accuracy, quality or longevity of the movement. If they did what i wanted then they'd get the pieces of the 7750, see what parts would be better in either closer tolerances, different materials, etc and then put it back together with the parts from the ETA and parts Panerai produce to improve the movement.

I like clear caseback. But it's OK for me if they have soled caseback too.
I want 232 & 000. this two is solid caseback. |

Actually, i just thought of something, the 212 and 213 come with display casebacks and both have the 7750, so i don't know why panerai don't do more widespread display casebacks on the auto's, although as you know these are both chronos, but so are the daylights and they are hidden away.

No pics, but my auto Pam 98 is display back too.
Then they have the display back on the 233, and not a whole lot to really see.

The 98 has a Girard-Perregaux Cal 59 which is a beautiful movement on its own, the 233 has the in-house P2002 which again is another lovely movement, although as you say it's a struggle seeing much of it due to the 3 barrels.
