Audemars Piguet Square Royal Oak from the 80s-90s - info or opinions?

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight regarding my most recent purchase. I was specifically looking for an 80s watch and it doesnt get more 80s than this (square/angular style, two tone, and quartz). Although I was looking for a vintage thunderbird/turnograph or datejust from this time period, when i saw this, i let my impulse get the best of me.

From my research, all I could gather is that this seems like a newer square royal oak because it has a date feature (might actually be from the 90s maybe?). But I dont know the model number or anything else. If someone can chime in with more information, that would be great. The only thing written on the watch is the serial number on the back.

Also, feel free to let me know what you guys think about this watch. It is kinda dated, but I find it very unique and intriguing.

Collectors say to avoid vintage quartz watches. But avoiding quartz watches is basically ignoring the 70s and 80s i'd say.

Thanks! I was worried it was going to be too small but you are right that it manages to fit nicely. Royal oaks tend to wear bigger on the wrist and that worked out to be true in the case as well. Off the wrist the watch feels kinda small. My wrist is 6.75".

The serial number starts with C so it seems like it might be from 1980-86-ish. Not exact but an estimate.

Also, the movemet caliber is 2711.

Can't find a model number or any other information about this watch other than that. Very obscure.

That is fantastic! So 80's cool. I'd love to wear one of those. Nice pick-up!

Ok. That watch is seriously cool and interesting. Didn't know these existed. The finishing on it still looks great. Looks good on your wrist.

Very unique watch indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Your two tone bracelet and grey dial look very similar with my 70s 5402.

Theres not a lot of info about these square royal oaks. I digged as much as I could and posted it here.

I dont think I was able to find another square royal oak with a date last time I checked. And the stainless steel is much more desirable as well. Good catch!

Maybe you can find a dial floating around that has all the markers that you can use to fix it if need be.

I think it's an absolute stunner. Really don't see many of these square quartz ROs. Can I ask what you paid for it +-? I'm looking for one and there's not a lot of info out there. Thanks! Jonathan

I feel the same, I would love to have one if it isn't over price.

It's very unique looking, I love it. I would call rectangular instead of square.

I just found the link on this watch.

https://watchcharts.com/listing/1481116

How was your price compare to the above link?

I just notice that this post was old post, sorry.
