Price for full set all original Rolex 5513

Hi all,

I am thinking about my next watch adventure, and a 5513 (pre 1984) sounds very very appealing.
In that regards, are there anyone that could give me an estimate for how much a full set all original 5513 would cost me? I'm having a hard time finding sale listing which include full set.

Thanks in advance.

The fact is a full set doesn't help us to give an estimate. It could be $17k or $8k or whatever. We definitely need more information/photos!

I think you are north of $20k U.S. for an excellent example matte dial Sub 5513 full set. The appreciation on this reference over the last 24 months has been quite something. Good luck with your search and beware/careful and be sure to post macro shots here of prospects for the experts like Beaumont Miller (and others) to assist you with your purchasing decision.
Take your time and enjoy the hunt.

Be prepared that Alpert from original certificate, all the other parts can be sourced and added. Buy the best watch, not the best set!

1968 5513

I bought mine 2 and a half years ago, since then there has been a price hike, mine is now worth in the region of £8-£10k, my budget was quite small so I bought the best I could find in my price range, the compromise was service replacement hands and dial (possibly done in the 1970's) I really love this watch and its a keeper, Good hunting

The price could be all over the board depending on what you get.

I'm new to the vintage Rolex world so I don't know how much sway my comments have, but I strongly recommend developing a relationship with a reputable vintage dealer, in fact, more than one if possible. Let them know what you're looking for, your budget, and get references if necessary. They should have no problem filling up your inbox with former and current customers who should sing their praises.

As the saying goes, "buy the seller."

Also, OP, messaged you with specific information.

Never ever let box and papers be part of the decision when it comes to purchasing vintage. The only time it is interesting is if you have two exactly identical watches and that will most likely never happen. Always, always pick condition in favor for accessories. If you are lucky enough to have this option it will only be a matter of money. If you think it is worth the extra chunk of change to get papers or not. Always buy as good watch as your budget let's you.

Best of luck!

When your looking for a watch and full set that is over 35years old, you will be very lucky to get an authentic full set.
You will get an original watch, but with a date appropriate box etc doubtful it will be the original , to get original papers is almost impossible. Although you may get more recent service papers.
Watches of Distinction , Hampshire , UK , had a very good example recently, totally original in excess of £ 20k.
I have bought several watches from Giles and he is highly recommended.
Best of luck in your search.

Words of wisdom. Condition ALWAYS first. Box and papers are a nice bonus, and a lot of collectors love them, but you also need to decide if for the extra money they're worth it to you.
