Another Antiques Roadshow Winner: Single Swiss Underline Tiffany 1675

After the 6542 video that everyone loves we have another crazy GMT show up, this time a gilt 1675 with not only a single (or double?) swiss underline but co-branded by Tiffany & Co. Hard to tell about the Swiss's at the video resolution, I know most of the radial dials tend to be double swiss but couldn't tell myself. Sadly there's some the oxidation of the dial and hard to tell if the hands are original but overall the watch is in attractive condition.

I always wondered how to tell if Tiffany is original or added later and as such, never trusted 'tiffany' dials.

Wow, it was appraised at $50K, really? I must be missing something. As cool as it looks in some regards because it's old and has character, it's kind of a wreck, no? Some serious condition issues from a collectibility standpoint.

Also, I assume there was no paperwork confirming the Tiffany connection, and without that, I'm never impressed by Tiffany dials.

The appraisal is off as swish77 implies. A perfect one is of course rare and expensive (with provenance). In this condition I'd be surprised if it fetch much more than 30k. If even that.

Tiffany dials without papers or other kind of provenance is unfortunately not worth much premium as it is so commonly faked these days. In this case the watch condition sets the price. Hardly much premium on the Tiffany stamp and thus I find it hard to see someone would bother adding it.

Swiss only, underline non chapter dial is rare on its own. If the Tiffany & Co is legit you are talking one extremely rare watch.

Sure, I think the faked Tiffany dials have jaded people a lot and diluted the premium somewhat. But when you can point to the a video showing the owner talking about a family-owned watch without any connections to pull off a fake Tiffany dial, the "it needs to have the Tiffany box/papers/etc argument" seems moot to me and justifies some premium beyond the condition of a similar non-tiffany example.

Also, is that a double or Swiss marking at 6?? Hard to tell but looks it.

Thats a good question would certainly need more pics. From the photo it looks like a single swiss since the double swiss would likely be white and slightly larger above the second swiss. It's a blurry photo but my guess is the edge of the crystal is making it appear to be double.

Dial look like this layout. On the other hand it could have a second swiss below the rehaut. It’s 1963 so I guess anything goes..

Here’s a similar gilt radial double swiss. Same layout and coronet. Double swiss dials normally have the extra swiss printed in silver and the Tiffany example has it in gold as far as I can see.

Even if it is very rare I would still not value it at 50k in that condition. Just my humble opinion.

Check the vid out, when they show it from A few diff angles you can see white text underneath the first Swiss . Who knows. Lol
