Cartier Calibre de Cartier Diver

Anyone own one of these watches? I’ve been watch shopping latly and they kind of jumped out at me. I haven’t ever considered anything beyond Rolex and Tudor in the past. I currently own the 116618ln yellow gold sub black dial, the white dial milgauss, and a black dial explorer ii 42mm. I’d like to add something different and one of these on a rubber strap might fit the bill. Any thoughts, concerns or details from anyone would be appreciated.

Just a bit more info on me, I buy and hold, I’m not a flipper or trader so I know the value on the secondary market isn’t as good on Cartier as Rolex, but that isn’t a real concern for me. I can get a solid discount on one so again that’s not an issue. I’m mainly concerned with the quality, durability, etc. on these watches.

Thanks in advance!

If the only factors you’re basing a decision on are quality and durability, then you will have no qualms about purchasing it, if the design, etc, grabs you, and tickles your fancy.

i loved mine and really wanted it to work. I sold it though because i could never get it to fit correctly on my wrist. The lug shape was not good for my flat wrists. I had the regular version, not the diver.

That is good to hear! The watch does tickle my fancy! I look at it every time I visit my Rolex AD. (They also have Cartier). I’ve always wanted to add a Cartier and just never have. I have also purchased three other Rolexes and a Tudor for my girlfriend, but I think this will be my first departure from the Rolex family.

Good to hear you loved it, but sorry to hear it wasn’t a good fit. Do you have wide wrists? I have pretty small joints. I have only tried the diver on rubber, which is what I would get. It seems to be quite comfortable.

I’ll have pics of the blue on rubber on Monday when I get it!

my wrists are not wide, just flat. The lugs curve a lot so the watch wants to settle on a curvy part of your wrist so for me that was around my wrist bone either above or below the center of my wrist. If your wrists are round vs flat it probably won't be an issue.

when you try it on pay attention to how the watch lays. Look at the profile when its on and see what part of the watch is making contact with your skin.

I don't own it but I really like it.

I actually was going to buy the SS black version, but did not find the strap to be comfortable, I was kinda in between holes, so I passed.

I think it's a great diver that is really different from the sea of Submariners out there.

I agree that it is very different. I have a sub, so I wanted to mix it up a bit.
