Time accuracy, am I fussing too much?

Until recently my PT DD40 was gaining less than a second a day when worn. However, when on a winder, lost around 5 seconds a day. But always reverted to gaining less than s second a day when worn.

After being on a winder for 3 weeks while I was on vacation during which is lost 5 seconds a day, now when worn, it consistently loses about 2-3 seconds a day.

The watch is 14 months old.

Should I be concerned or should I delete the Watch Tracker app and just enjoy the watch?

Agreed. It is one think to check performnance but you have spent more time measuring and posting that what your watch is off by.

Delete watch tracker then perhaps you will start to enjoy your watch, and sell the machine winder no Rolex needs a machine to wind it.Plus the fact on a machine winder the watch is normally on the same plane and axis just going back and throw in the same position 24/7.While on the wrist and what the watch was designed for could show different accuracy because then they will be in many different positions thats how they are tested at COSC. But in the real world we are talking about a few seconds out of 86400 in a day,in life there far more important things to worry about than a few seconds .

I think you had the best evidence right there. Your wrist beckons...

the winder is going to be different than on your wrist as its not the same pattern. So basically it would be possible to regulate it to the winder or your wrist, not both. Its seems relatively consistent in both cases and wearing habits affect the rate to which you could then have it regulated to.

For example I could borrow your watch and it might be +2 for me based on how i wear it and +1 for you. Gravity, positioning, rest time at night, etc can all account for this.

My advice: when you don’t wear your watch just leave it as it is in a pouch or its box.

Just wind it as needed when you set the time and when you start wearing it again.

My Hulk gains about 4 seconds a day. I wear it 24-7. It's the least of my worries.

Just enjoy. The watch is regulated to +2/-2. That seems within spec and should even out if you wear it more often. It sounds like your DD doesn't like the winder though.

I think everyone goes through these kinds of things at some point.

I used to do the same. Constantly checking accuracy. Syncing time ever few days.

You will enjoy your watch much more after you get beyond this phase. When I get a new watch, I check accuracy once or twice and as long as it is reasonable, I'm done.

Unload the winder. Waste of money, and your watch doesn't seem to like it.

I just reset mine whenever it is a couple of minutes fast. Usually reset it when a date reset is required. No worries. I've worn three different Subs (24-7) since about 1986 and all of them ran slightly fast.

i trust on-wrist accuracy as winders are notorious for not being 'accurate' in obtaining proper results. Your on-wrist accuracy looks great :)

I'll offer a counterpoint and say I don't think you are fussing too much. For one, COSC is not the standard anymore. The current Superlative Chronometer standards of +/- 2 spd went into effect in 2015, so that's the standard for your watch; -3 would be outside spec. (COSC is +6/-4.) Second, I'm less concerned about the absolute specs than I am about the relative shift in rate. The watch was gaining maybe one second per day; now it's losing as much as three. That's a net change of up to 4 seconds per day, or 400% of what the previous change-per-day was. If that were my watch, I would be concerned, too.

Whether that concern warrants a trip to the AD or RSC is another matter. I'd be inclined to keep an eye on it to see if it changes any more. If it gets worse, I would certainly take it in if it were my watch. If it never gets any worse, then you'll have to decide if you can live with it. If it's not outside of spec (e.g., if it's right at -2) you might have trouble getting a regulation covered under warranty.

Wear your watch. My winders do the same, but I don’t care, as I enjoy the comfort of grabbing whatever watch I want to wear without resetting time.

Accuracy on the wrist is the most important measure.
You have got a very good watch that is displaying superb accuracy.

Delete the stupid Watch Tacker app. It's clouding your judgement and poisoning your mind.
Just put the watch on and marvel at its outstanding capability.
Oh, and don't forget to check the time whilst gazing at it.

Get rid of the winder. It is not needed except for perpetual calendar watches that are not worn on a daily basis.
