Newbie advice
Hi guys,
New to the forum and Rolex in general. Have a dilemma I wondered if you could help me with. My local AD called today to say he has a BLNR in stock for me - great news! However, I bought the black gmt 2 a few months back thinking that BLNR would be a huge wait. So my question is two fold: - should I pull the trigger on BLNR? - how much do you think I would comfortably expect to get for my December 2017 in mint condition gmt 2 Black (full set). Ideally I’d like a fast ish sale because owning both watches is not an option. Thanks in advance! Yodel |

I personally would go with the BLNR especially as you're in the UK I'd be very surprised if you didn't at least get every penny back on the other GMT II

Probably get $7500 to 7750 in the states. Retail or close in the UK. if I'd guess. Black isn't as hot as the BLNR. Just my opinion.

If you “settled” for the LN when the one you truly wanted was the BLNR then yes you should flip the LN for it. The quickest way to sell your LN will be through a trusted seller here on the forum. If you paid MSRP plus tax for the LN you should expect to lose a couple grand.
Edit: didn’t realize you were in the UK |

Fast sale to Watchfinder for the Black would get you maybe £5K. Privately 5.5K.

I know if you did it here in the states, bought the LN at retail and resold you would take a loss, though minimal considering the current market. I'm not familiar with the UK market.

I nevertheless I do not have a GMT I would prefer the black to he Batman. I asume that you prefer the Batman then go for it and try to flip it as well as you can, if you have to asume some loses do it or you will be regretting for long time.

Good luck in finding a buyer :) . The hard part is dealing with the money transaction. You'll need to find a buyer who will trust you in sending a large sum of money.

What is your understanding of a watch in MINT CONDITION? Any watch between the factory and AD is in mint condition unless you bought Ref 116710LN directly from the factory, it is still stored the plastic coffin, never been removed and absolutely zero finger prints on the casing, bracelet and sapphire crystal. That makes a whole heck of a lot of difference and you have the advantage of the bargaining power on your side

If you can afford it, acquire the BLNR and hold the Black. Both will be discontinued, and that traditionally suggests that the black will go up in value, but certainly not as much as the BLNR which has been more popular. Consider flipping the black in about 3-5 years and apply the funds to get a Coke SS GMT after it comes out.

Thanks for your comments guys. Watchfinder offered me between £5250 and £5500 but on chrono24 a watch similar to mine is listed between £6000 and £6500 - surely they can’t be going for that?
