Tudor Submariner “Ghost”

Hello TRF!

Have an opportunity to buy this super cool piece. I tried to do my own research but I just couldn’t find much info on this. I would love to know the experts’ opinion on this unique piece. I just don’t want to pull the trigger and get burnt. Any input would be appreciated!

I guess it´s a ref 9411/0 based on the shape of the case back which has a lot of wear.

Looks legit to me but better pictures of the dial would help. Looks like the original twin lock crown is still there :) Lovely insert.

Asking price?

Apparently it’s from 1967, He is asking $7000. i think it’s a little too much for the condition it’s in, don’t you agree?

Snowflakes were not available 1967 and the caseback suggest 9411/0 so the seller might be far off. Do you have the serial no?

I like this watch but the case back is way over polished, like maybe there had been an inscription on the back that was removed. Many will look at the case back on these to confirm authenticity. Polishing or replacing the crystal might tell you more about the dial. I like the colors and the insert. Reminds me of one I used to have.

If the band is real, then 7k is a decent price. Great insert. Nice dial. Bad caseback, but I would not care.

I agree, and the caseback is not a dealbreaker.

if you don't mind me asking, how much did it end up selling for?

Very cool 9411. Price doesn’t seem that bad for a blue 9411. Especially if (as mentioned) the bracelet is legit.

The insert looks cracked at 12 O’clock which lowers it’s(the insert’s) value significantly.

No, I did not.. still not 100% sold on the watch. I'd have to see it in person. He said it's been sitting in storage for the last 12 years so it probably needs service soon too.

It’s a ton of money. But Hqmilton seems to price these 9k+ and he rarely has them for long. I have overhauled 6 of these and they cost $300 with a new spring and gaskets. Send me some In N Out burger to Montreal, in exchange for this free unsolicited and poor advice?

Really? I’m pretty much clueless when it comes to vintage pieces, I’m just getting my feet wet. I’ll have to check it out Monday and get better pics. As for the In N Out.. I don’t know Harry, they don’t last as long when they’re around me🤣🤣

Harry, looks like a Tudor 9411 just recently sold for close to $9k USD

Top examples of these are now $10,000+ with box and papers. Price for this one looks OK.

Once upon a time you could buy a PN Daytona for seven grand...

if the watch is 1967/68, that should be a 7021/0, with a roulette date wheel(even numbers are red). lack of a roulette date wheel is not a dealbreaker, but seller would need to know what happened to it, if he has the service history. A fair amount of value on a 7021/0 lies in having the 125 top hat plexi, 700 twin crown, and of course, the roulette datewheel. From the few pics you've provided, it seems to not don the 125 top hat, as the cyclops is not aligned with the ETA datewheel found in the tudors. I stand corrected, but it might be either an aftermarket 127, or an original tophat 127 meant for the 1680s. the crown is definitely a triplock crown, so its not a 700.

caseback is certainly a bit bashed, but it looks to be from a 9411/0. so best to confirm if indeed this is a 7021/0 or a 9411/0.

That's not the original box, of course...
