AD Sold me wrong Ref # Datejust

Hello everyone,

I purchased a Ref #16234 Rolex 36mm Datejust from a dealer and was sent a 16014 instead.

How should I go about resolving this?

Sorry if this comes off as amateurish, it’s my first Rolex purchase.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TRF

Call your AD and explain that you were sent the wrong reference. It's on them to correct it.

It didn’t come with any. Probably should’ve mentioned it’s a Pre-owned piece.

Was probably an honest mistake..how that would happen, I’m not really too sure though but nonetheless I’d contact your AD and politely explain that someone within their est has their head in their ass, then ask how is this situation going to get resolved...I would think they would be pretty understanding as it’s clealry a completely different watch...if not I’d dispute the charge if that’s even a possible recourse until it gets sorted

Yeah, I'll wait and see what they say. Hopefully it'll get resolved quickly.

The stranger thing was that I was on the phone with a different sales rep on their after hours service and I explained that the Reference number in between the lugs was different than what I had purchased. He kept saying, "Rolex doesn't put their reference number on the watch itself." ?...

I mean, the AD seems to be very reputable within the US market so I would hope its just the representative who's misinformed.

Never used them but they’ve definitely been around some time...as frustrating as this situation is, just let them know what has happened and give them a chance to make it right before getting too worked up...I’d be willing to bet they are aware of the mixup and won’t have any issues correcting this

As of today I have yet to receive my full refund. Use DavidSW I have heard of no such issues buying pre owned from him.

Yeah, I'm definitely willing to wait for a response. Just unfortunate that it had to be my first purchase...

Oh wow...yeah I would not be okay with having to pay a restocking fee for something that was not my fault...hopefully you'll receive your refund or I'd dispute the charge with my bank?

*UPDATE*

Heard back from the AD.

Will look for the correct Reference Number or process a full refund.

Would say the service has been great minus the wrong watch being sent.

That’s great! I have purchased several watches from Govberg over the last few years and each transaction was flawless. It has been more than a year since I’ve used them so I’m happy to see they responded to your concerns and you are happy with the result.
