Need help with Daytona 6263

Did they make only 2 dials in stainless? White and black? Or is the white silver?

What is a fair price for a complete all original everything unpolished or very lightly polished set?

Very interested in getting one of these things!

They made a number of different versions. Matte black and silver, sometimes more champagne, as standard dials. Exotic dials also known as Paul Newman dials were available white and black.

Price ranges from a lot to much, much more depending on configuration, condition and provenance. Let’s say from 100k to well over a million usd for a very nice example if you want a ’set’.

I wear mine regularly. I'm more careful nowadays, but I won't own a watch that I don't wear. I don't see the point of just sticking it in a safe. Looks like you'd need at least $100K nowadays to get a very nice example, a lot more if you want boxes/papers with it. The problem is the nice examples are very hard to find/buy.

As for the OP's question about color, the matte black is black, of course, but the silver dials vary, depending on the years, batches, age, patina, etc .... Some are very silvery and some are more creamy and whiter. However, none are true white, like the white you see on more modern Daytonas. The silver/white 6263s all have at least a little iridescence to the dials, despite what they might look like in photos. Mine is definitely more in the creamy/whiter category, but it changes in the light and can look slightly silver at times.

Thanks! In a weird way, I wish the darn watch wasn't so insanely valuable now. I'm not looking to sell it and I just love the way it looks and feels. I don't want to be too nervous wearing it.

Gorgeous watch you have! I know it's easier said than done but I find myself in the same predicament at times and it also seems like when you're TRYING to be careful, you overthink and end up causing an accident (sigh)...maybe it's just me.

Totally agree. I have a 5508 that I'd love to wear but am afraid to. Should be enjoying it instead, but then it wouldn't be "unworn". Bummer, I love wearing them all.
