What’s a GMT fan to do???

I’ve got a hankering for a BLNR or PepC.

Currently have a 116710LN, 214270 and 14060m. I love them all. Problem is I’m getting bored and want some color. Only watch that for sure won’t go is the Explorer. I don’t want to own more than 3, so 1 in means 1 out. Before you all suggest a 16710, I’ve owned one before, and prefer the 6 digit refs.

I change my mind about 100 times per day, so thought it’d be interesting to see what the community thinks!

Should I:
A) be happy with my wonderful collection and spend no more money
B) hold out on the list (who knows how long) for a Pepsi and sell 14060
C) sell the 116710LN and get a BLNR, forget about the Pepsi
D) sell the 14060m and get a BLNR, forget about the Pepsi

Flipping the LN for BLNR is a pricey move for half of a sliver of blue ceramic and a couple of blue bits on the dial.

So, I'd probably wait for the SS BLRO and decide which to flip at that point.

Aaah, well, initial acquisition is a different story. I was talking about a flip scenario.

If the only reason you initially went for the LN was to save a few hundred compared to the BLNR, which is what you prefer, maybe it's time to "right that wrong".

No, you’re completely correct about the flip situation, its ridiculous that’d I’d consider $2-3k difference to “upgrade.”

Initial acquisition was actually similar to current flip pricing. I was in Japan in 2014 and the Yen was pretty weak at the time. Japanese gray dealers had BNIB LNs for around MSRP, which was something like $6k USD, but the BLNR was marked up another $2-3k.

Option D. You could always flip the BLNR for a Pepsi C later

Only Sub i like are 116613LB and 116618LB, precisely for the color.

Only GMT i would consider are BLNR or BLRO on SS.

I like the 214270.

I vote B and would sell the 14060.

I guess I’m a bit different than most here, but I can’t focus on my next purchase until I’ve put myself in a position to actually buy.

So on your case, if you have to sell one to buy another, you must already know which one in your collection has to go .... I’d sell whichever one that is so that I’m in a position to pull the trigger.

I’d hold out for now and see about availability of the new Pepsi in a few months. Ya never know how these things will shake out. Stay nimble and keep your powder dry.

I voted for a conditional B.

If you have a relationship with an AD and can get a BLRO in a reasonable (for Rolex) amount of time, I say go that route. Otherwise, I'd sell the LN and swap it for a BLNR.

This one's easy: sell the 116710LN and pick up a new 126710.

I voted 'B' purely because I now see 4 BLNRs for every 1 LN. It's becoming more rare to own the LN. Get the BLRO for color and let the 14060M go unless it's a four-liner complete with everything.

Worse case, go with Tmac478's suggestion of a 16710.

Lots of great replies here, thanks everyone! I’m surprised that “do nothing” has gotten so many votes given the enablers on this forum :chuckles:

I realized this thread is seriously lacking pics so here’s a quick snap from this morning.

Not a huge LN fan. I would go BLNR if you can find one at an AD. Then, when you get the call for Pepsi you can make a decision. You won’t lose on the BLNR.

I voted A. Wait and see if you like the new Red/Blue bezel. Until you actually see the watch, you’ll truly never know if it will sing to you or not. Good luck

I'd go with C. LN looks too much like the ubiquitous black sub. I love the BLNR cause it is conservative enough yet a little different. Also, I love the shade of blue on the bezel insert. Good luck!

Option F

Keep your current trio - it's fantastic.

I get it that you want a splash of color in your collection for now, but why? Probably because you don't have a splash of color. But hey! You don't need to. The watches you have is much more wearable than booth BLNR and the new pepsi.

And option F 2.0

Buy a Tudor Black Bay - keep your current collection and get some color. You can move forward with this and it will probably cost you less than adding a BLNR/pepsi. I read that you only want three watches in your collection, but isn't a good alternative to add a fourth watch that will suit your needs, yet still at a lower cost than your other options?

Your 116710 is in my opinion one of the best modern sport Rolex out there and as a bonus to it all - all your Rolex works great on playful nato straps.

Have a nice weekend
