How Do You Feel About the Prospex or Padi Logos?
I have seen a number of comments about Seiko's use of these logos on their dive watches, both in reviews and on various forums, so wondering about thoughts here.
Do they add to the watch's appeal or diminish it in your opinion? Is one logo more appealing than the other to you, and why? Would you like them to be in another color, size, or font? Is using the Prospex logo a good long term approach by Seiko? What are your thoughts? Initially I did not like the Prospex logo from the pictures that I saw and wasn't much interested in picking up a new diver with one. Broke down and bought a Turtle, and actually think it is fine and sufficiently integrated with the watch's dial. |

I have an srp779 and it is a great daily pool, beach beater. I actually want to wear it and I have watches that cost many thousands more. There is just something about the turtles that make them fun to wear, and it is nice not having to worry about bearing it up. With that said, a little x does not bother me at all.
I prefer the little X vs. the PADI writing on the dial.

I totally agree...the turtle is a really fun watch to wear for all water activities. And I don’t mind the X either. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I like the X logo but the "PADI" is a bit too much for my liking.
But as I am free to buy and wear what I choose, its fine for me and those who choose to buy and wear it. I guess PADI is a big thing for some divers and if the watch has PADI certification, then they are entitled to use it.

I don't mind the X (P + S) logo, but not a fan of the PADI logo.

I dont mind the X at all, its fairly small and a bit of text on the dial if fine by me.
Ive always thought thought that its not in the right font, its a bit sharp and boxy, a GS style font would have been better. The PADI is fine, as its not on all their watches theres no issue really, the point of the PADI edition is to have the logo and colours so its fine by me. Ive got lots of seikos with and without, i love em all, little things like this are too small for me personally to worry about. |

Does anyone think the PADI logo will add some value on a piece down the road to future collectors vs. a similar, but non-PADI piece? Seiko obviously pursued this to have strong diver cred, but might it affect anything else?

I don’t mind either one. My SRP581 has the X. One of the models I have my eye on next has Padi on the dial.

Recently bought the Padi edition and love it. The blue dial really pops in the sun which was a pleasant surprise.

I don't love the X, but it doesn't deter me from wearing my Turtle. Too much going for it to let a little logo get in the way.

I have one of the solar PADI watches and I love it. I like the logo and the PADI watches usually have a color combo that I really like. I have two Rolex’s and and Omega but my Seiko gets the most wrist time on a daily basis.
