Let's get things perfectly straight there is nothing magical about 904L SS yes it was a brag factor as once Rolex was the only watch manufacture using it.But today brands like Xoskeleton plus a few others jumped on the 904L bandwagon. The steel they call 904L was developed for factories that use products that have a high acid/salt content like vinegar pickling products. The main and only difference between 316L over 904L it has slightly more Molybdenum(Mo)approx 2% more, approx 1-2% more Crome(Cr),approx 1% copper(Cu) and approx 10% more nickel and thats it.Plus the fact that 904L is no harder that 316L and another fact 904L will show scratches more easy than 316L

Agreed. No real difference in real world usage. Although Rolex steel always looks brighter IMO in comparison to 316, but it may just be the way it is polished.
