Every time I go into the OR, my surgeons and I place our watches and cell phones on the back table. It's like a ritual: Silence phone, take off watch, place on table next to each other. Ever tried double gloving with a SD? Ain't gonna happen. I'm just a rep though, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

My GF is a Dr. (family medicine) she wears my SS DJ
working quite a bit.
She wants a SS midsize of her own she will wear while working.
She does not want diamonds on it as she doesn't feel that's right
for work and kinda rubs into her patients face what she makes.
(she works in a family practice in a blue collar area)
Also, she is not a fan of YG.....

Do not worry my friend, you are a medical professional! My business is mostly trauma and I know you get to see your fair share of car wrecks, so that alone puts you right up there with the plastic surgeons I work with. If you guys didn't stabilize and calm down patients so well all while giving the heads up on what's on the way, I would not be able to handle my job in the OR at my level 1 trauma. Many thanks to you!

Hey what about firefighters, i've rescued a cat stuck in a tree, does that count for anything.
Actually the tree was on the ground so realistically I saved the tree.

I always wear my Sub LV to work, ya know the cat rescuer.

you know, that's always a dilemma for me.. i'm an anesthesiologist and i wear a coke... sterile gloves are powdered on the inside and if i wear the glove over the coke, i'll have to wipe off the powder after each procedure... on the otherhand if i take it off and place it somewhere else, i always turn my head into its direction to see if its still there.

Medical Professionals and Rolex

I am a Chief Operations Officer for a Home Health Agency. I'm considered to be "The Watch Guy" by several of the physicians in my community for my collection of both Rolex and non-Rolex watches. (It's just hype)

I'm a private practice anesthesiologist, however, I don't wear any rolexes at work. I also work with many less fortunate patients and I try to maintain a humble image. I have noticed that medical sales reps seem to be the ones who wear the most rolexes and other nice watches in the ORs - much more frequently than surgeons, crnas, or anesthesiologist.

Maybe it's the area...over in my neck of the woods I have surgeons all over wearing Rolex, Panerai, and Omega. But no one wears during a case. The rest of the hospital staff is not above it either but anesthesiologist's out here are more techy with the laptops and ipods and stuff.

I am a Radiation Oncologist in NYC. I wear Rolex's (or Tudor's) almost every day - a rotation of about 10-15 watches.

Finally, another anesthesiologist! I always take my watch off if I'm doing procedures, just put it in my back pocket. Welcome to TRF!

You need a Milgauss. Just consider it a business expense.

I pass gas in a county general hospital. Our OR director wears a solid gold Sub, the oral surgeon wears a different Rolex or Panerai every day, and I sometimes wear a Rolex to work. The sales reps always have the nice watches, though. I have never had a patient notice my plain old steel watches as expensive.

They either like paramedics, or they don't like them because they're intimidated by their real-world skills! I take care of some crazy trauma patients who wouldn't make it if not for the EMS guys. Hope to see you at the next KC GTG.

I'm one of those sales reps, however I will only wear SS when dealing with docs. I had one make a comment that I must be making too much money when I was wearing my 16613. As if he couldn't buy and sell me twenty times. I make it a point now when I'm having a first meeting with a doc that doesn't know me to wear my Explorer. No more comments. However, with those I have had a long standing relationship with quite a few like to talk watches. I spent many years selling in the OR setting and have seen a lot of nice watches pinned to scrubs or sitting on the back table.

I used to be an EMT, but never wore a Rolex back then. Also, the only life saving I ever did, was Drive fast and I was one heck of a gurney pusher. Thank the lord I never had to give CPR. That takes skill

I wear mine frequently both in the States and Third World countries....

The watch is something only for me. It has little to do with the MD/pt. interaction. I do rely on the central seconds hand frequently however.
