Full Service when watch still under warranty

Apologies if this has been asked before,

Is there a specific time when one can and should send his AP watch to an AP service center and have full maintenance / service done free of charge?
I purchased a watch in August 2017 and extended the warranty but would like to know when i am supposed to send the watch for a full service, and whether it is free of charge or not.

Thanks

They used to do an inspection for the third year ticket which they have now stopped.

But why would they service FOC unless there’s a fault?

I don’t see any need why you or AP want to do full maintenance on properly running recently bought watch and risk issue of dust going into the case, scratching the watch or any unexpected error.

the watch is under warranty if it breaks. Its not a free service otherwise. That is general maintenance and part of the cost of ownership to get a service done on your watch. It shouldn't need a service within 5 years though, unless it breaks.

My watch is under warranty. The time has not been keeping when chronograph is running, and there is a strange sound that mimics a loose screw. I just sent it in and received a letter stating how they will be doing a 'maintenance service.'

Under payment it says: covered by warranty

I feel like I'm getting the impression from this thread that it should not be free of charge? Does that mean that there is a possibility that the covered by warranty part will change into a numeric figure?

If there is an underlying issue then yes FOC but I don’t see why a warranty should cover a service FOC if not required!

its "broken" so yes its covered. If you sent the watch in and it was fine and asked for a full service, its not free

IMO its just easier to do a full service rather than trouble shoot individual parts. If they can see there is an issue and its going to be taken apart anyway its pretty much the same thing.

People sometimes think that if they send the watch in just before the warranty expires they are entitled to something they are not. Like a complete service.

That is a very nice gesture of you to offer them..however, almost a bit saddening as it sounds as though you are completely done with AP! I am hoping you return to us one day..it's more fun as a collaborative effort

Thank you for the answers!i was just projecting myself in the future and was a bit confused regarding what is covered under the warranty.
So basically a service for lubrication, polish if needed etc 3 years down the line will not be free of charge as it has nothing to do with the warranty correct?

From what I gathered probably mainly mechanical issues would be covered by warranty

It will be covered under warranty. I've had a few where they just came back and said the "oils were dry" and preformed a full service and back then even extended the warranty another 2 years. I've had mostly minor issues here and there with a couple watches but all have been taken care of by AP is short order.

Not even that cool pen they gave you?

Out of all the gifts I find it’s the hot choc mug that gets the most use, for my morning dose of caffeine
