24670IO vs 116519LN
Hello everyone,
A little torn between these two. I’m next at my Rolex dealer for the Daytona (been waiting a few months just to place order). AP Boutiques all have several 26470IO available. Looking for some objective advise. Thanks. |

Had you posted on the Rolex sub I would've still said the ghost Different look and feel but personally I would take an AP on rubber strap over the Rolex on rubber strap any day of the week. I like the Daytona much more in full bracelet be it SS or PM. You would also potentially be one of the firsts on this board with a live shot of the ghost. |

Personally prefer the Daytona but hard to go wrong here

Sight unseen for the ghost...in person might be a different story.
That said I'm moving AP. I might be the outlier here but I have never warmed up to the Daytona on anything except a bracelet. The back clasp is the deal breaker for me |

Not a big fan of either but based on the choices I would go with the Daytona.

I’m an AP fan, but much prefer the WG Daytona OF.

Generally I like the Daytona but in this case I don´t like the WG oysterflex version.
So my vote for AP. |

These are two of my favorite watches but I'm going with the AP on this one due to the date function, not having to unscrew the chrono pushers, the exhibition case-back, and the price.
On the other hand, I can't really think of any advantages the Daytona has over the ROO. Sure you could say service cost/reliability but the price difference far makes up for that at least for the PM models. |

Love the AP, but that’s my favorite Daytona at the moment so it’d be hard for me to pass on it.

Thanks for the feedback. Put deposit on the Daytona today. Logic is both look great, but it's WG for just a $1000 more, more durable movement (is that a fair assessment?), and proved to hold its value better than previous 26470's. Worse case, I can always get the AP later fairly quickly and perhaps even at a discount?

Thanks. Been looking forward to it. Was lucky enough to see it in person about a year ago and felt great on the wrist.
That’s what I feared could happen to me. Hope you get it. |

I always have a problem associating Rolex with rubber bands - it just doesn't sink in me...I would go for the AP or full gold Daytona

Make that a year as greys don't lower prices easily, but I suspect AP will slow release this to keep it exclusive and price high with greys. Won't be like the normal 42s and price will only fall when other more popular CEs are released.

So now that some of us have seen the Ghost in the flesh or live pics, what do you all now think about these two? (Pics by other TRF members)

Really tough call.
I’m not a big Daytona fan, but like the WG a lot. I’d say that piece takes it by a slim margin |

If I had to pick one watch and sell all others, I’d go with my 116500. So I’m definitely a Daytona fan. That said, between these two, I’d pick the ghost. I like the WG Daytona on OF but if I’m going rubber, I’d have to take the ROO.

I was facing the same dilemma in that afternoon in Paris. I found 116519 in one shop, and the Ghost in another. Eventually I went for the grey ceramic. Part of the reason is that I have a 116500 which makes 116519 a bit duplicated, also I am not a fan of the black oysterflex strap.

Tough call for me. Personally I'm not an WG fan and a big AP fan. I have the greytheme and a Full RG daytona. I personally would go with the WG daytona if the you don't already have one as it's really a well balance watch and can be worn everyday with anything. Then add the AP later. The WG weight is really a nice feeling as well.

Well I wasn't wrong about a slow and very late release... this is a very hard call for me, I think I would go for the AP just because I have had Daytonas, and SS is best pound for pound, and the 42 ROO is a really nice and substantive piece.
