Tudor 79280 Chronological Legitimate?

I came across a listing for a Tudor Chronological 79820, and something seems off about it to me. I can't find any images online with the same dial and bezel combination, so I was thinking that maybe the dial was replaced. The last image also says 79260, which I thought was strange.

I was hoping that someone familiar with these pieces could provide some insight!

Thanks in advance!

I don't see anything that stands out as unusual. Also, it's very common to see 79260 engraved on the inside of 79270 & 79280 case backs.

Thanks! I had no idea that the 79260 engraving was common.

The dial looks okay? I wasn't sure if it was possibly a replacement dial because I couldn't find any 79280s with that dial. They all seemed to have a Panda dial, it seemed. Unless this one just isn't as common

Kevin,

Pretty sure that was a dial option. It could be a service replacement but if so it shouldn't impact value.

It was one of the more unusual ones.

Interesting! I think I might just have to add it to the collection! I've always loved these Tudor chronos!

Tudor chronos & future Tigers had many dial bezel combos , from Salmon to
Pink, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Black, Pandas B+W & reverse, Sticks & Arabic
numeral pointers, semi-flute bezels. Shark skin straps, jubilee & oyster. Feels like those were the days, I'm not sure about mismatching
case backs but everything else looks legit & with Dans approval I would feel much more at ease. A great watch for a great price to this day.

Thanks everyone for the help (and my apologies for the typo in the post title - auto-correct..)

I'm not doubting the authenticity of the watch anymore as you all have been very helpful, but I am now doubting the posting a little..

I can't post links yet since I don't yet have 10 posts, but if you search on WatchRecon "Tudor Chrono", you'll find two listings on Chronocentric (different usernames), that both appear to be the same watch.

I just thought it was a little strange!

I'm actually a little hesitant to pull the trigger on this particular watch now. The listing is on Chronocentric and I just found what I think is the same watch, under a different username, also on Chronocentric (searced "Tudor Chrono" on WatchRecon- I can't post links yet, but please take a look if you're curious). The seller got a little too eager/pushy...

Just stood out to me as being a little strange given that I haven't seen this particular dial in combination within months of looking and then it appears twice!

I have a 79180 "Big Block" with this exact dial/bezel combo. They have a picture of it in the booklet that came w/ the original watch (you can find an example of the booklet pictures showing 79280 on Chrono24). The watch is one of my favorites, since the subdials match the bezel (I also have a 79270 Panda, which feels like the echo of this watch). All that said, this is a "Prince Date", not an "Oyster Date" version, so it'll have Tudor case and crown. I prefer the versions with Rolex crown and case, but if the price is right...

I'd probably trust my gut on this one and wait for something to pop up that doesn't give you pause.

Understood, you should be completely comfortable before risking any $$.

This one actually does have the Rolex Crown and Caseback, but I agree with trusting my gut on this one despite how much I like it!

Ah, couldn't tell from the pictures (about the Rolex crown and case). I've actually seen this watch around and couldn't convince myself something wasn't awry with it, so I didn't pull the trigger either. Happy Hunting!

I believe I made the right decision on not pursuing this piece further. This watch may look familiar because it was originally posted for sale by TRF user Tudorlex in 2012. This seller is stating wire transfer only and saying that he is Tudorlex, but hasn't been able to login to TRF in a few years, etc. A little too many inconsistencies for my comfort (saying bought the watch last year, etc).
