Wow that man doesn’t want for much! Gorgeous cars and watches.

I watched this last night. Immediately became my second favorite TW episode after the Facebook guy (Jacobsen?).

This episode went beyond an amazing vintage Rolex collection but was also very heavy on vintage Porsche and Ferrari’s. And that house....

Also, that vintage YG Paul Newman Daytona became my new grail.

There is no way he made all that money redesigning mid-century modern houses. I'm guessing there is old money at play. I'm not an envious guy by nature, but if I was ever to come back as someone else, it would be him! That house is unreal. And the 50th Porsche 356 - yikes!

I thought this episode was an awkward conversation between the two with no passion or story behind any of the watches. This guy just states that he bought the watches and cars that he owns but doesn’t delve into the why other than they look cool or are considered assets.

The first episode with John Mayer and the third episode with John Goldberger are my favorites because you can hear their passion for collecting watches in how they discribe them and how they acquired them.

A lot of vintage pieces, I thought overall it was a bit underwhelming but thanks for sharing

I concur with your comments on this episode. Not much soul or passion that’s for certain. Apparently many HODINKEE readers felt as you did.

Not a fan of Mayer, but the Goldberger episode was a favorite.

I too felt that the guy was simply there to answer questions, and not much more... quite boring compared to many other great episodes.

It's a pretty classy collection for a guy who doesn't seem to be a huge watch collector and I liked the fact that he said if he buys it he wears it. Some of the talking watch guys give off the vibe that the stuff they brought just came from the vault and they are going straight back to the vault right after they are done filming
