datejust 41 dark rhodium price at AD

walked in to try on a 36mm DJ white gold with fluted/oyster but found it to be too small. tried on a 41mm DJ with dark rhodium. retail is 9350 I believe. AD was super nice and we talked a while. offered to purchased with 10% off. shut down right away, no wiggle so I walked out. Is this model that popular?

I had a similar experience about 2-3 months ago. I talked to three different ADs, all of which I had some history with, all three said the same thing - basically the sport/pro model shortage is hurting them to the point where they were unwilling to discount the DJ41s. I called DavidSW and had one the next day for 12 off list.

E-

Ps. I was looking for blue

they were openly admitting they thought i could sell it after i left...it was only 800$ off but they thought since i was shipping it out of state that i should be happy with that discount alone....IDK...i may get the 36mm since i cant get the discount.

Say there were no discounts anywhere on 41s, if you are going to keep the watch and don't intend to flip I don't think you should settle for a watch you feel lesser about. Definitely not over 900 on almost 10,000. But that's assuming you can't shop around and find a better opportunity.

Strange that they thought you could sell it so easily to make a couple hundred bucks, if you're lucky that is. And with the effort of finding a buyer and at the risk of being scammed and ripped off on a $9,000 item with very little upside. As if you're a grey doing volume. They're nuts.

she was very pushy trying to get me to buy, i didnt care for it. she didnt handle the watch like i see other ADs...no gloves or anything. prob best to find someone else as suggested. I asked for her card and she didnt even ask for my information. Like i was wasting her time or something.

Nope, not surprising. ADs have been very difficult in regards no negotiating on any watch.

Why not reach out to one of the trusted sellers on here? I'm sure they could get the watch for you at a discount.

I got mine for a lot less than that from DavidSW. This was right when the watch was first released.

I know, maybe ATL is that hot with it being one of the busiest airport locations but I'm going to vegas in a few weeks so I may try there for a better deal.

You are *NOT* going to get a deal in Las Vegas. In fact, that's one of the worst places to buy watches if looking fora discount.

But, hang in there and keep at it, something will come your way.

Best,
Mark

In Tulsa Oklahoma at one of the AD's here. I too am shopping for a DJ41. They immediately offered 5% off of SS, 9% off of TT, and 12% off of full gold (not that they have a full gold DJ41).

I bet there is a bit better discount to be had on that model. I bet 9% isn't out of the question. Maybe 10%.

Full gold on anything not DJ then. Could be worse, not a bad place to start though. And SS only for DJs or professional line too?

Datejusts are not and never have been rare or scarce. I would not purchase one without a significant discount. Several sellers on here offer the DJ 41 at very nice discounts. SS sport watches being scarce has absolutely nothing to do with selling a Datejust 41.

If you can live without the fluted bezel on the DJ 41 (it's white gold), the smooth bezel version of the same watch lists for 2k less ($7450 w/jubilee, $7350 w/oyster, both on Rolex's US website). -Rick.

Discount topic aside, have you looked at the OP39 as an alternative in between? Price is great, but lacks the fluted bezel and date if those are a must.
