I found a Root Beer GMT!! Now what Price do I pay?

I am trying to figure out a reasonable price to offer for the GMT Root Beer. A reputable store has an unworn in the box root beer available and due to the rarity I expect to pay an overage, just not sure how much. Any thoughts? The watch is in Newport beach at Newport Watch Jewelry and Loan

ADs can't sell for over MSRP, but they might try to get you to buy another less-desired watch.

Not that it matters, since it's probably gone by now since you posted its location, LOL.

If you are desperate for it now I guess you can offer 10% above, but on this I would wait and see how the market unfolds, TTs are usually not so strong, altho the times are clearly changing.

the price is dropping, i think 20500 is a fair price for now if you really want to get one.

If you must have it now, pay a premium and post up pics here so we can congratulate you.

If you can wait, perhaps others have a good point that a TT, even if hot at the beginning, won’t remain a hot item in the long run. ( I am a happy bluesy owner and a fan of some TT watches. )

List would be good; likely not more and preferably less. But that's true in general.

This! Beautiful watch but TT is not as desirable as the SS Pepsi

get it at an AD and pay retail. Its still a TT watch so after the hype dies down a bit they should be readily available. Then later a discount would probably be possible.

Anything over list is foolish, IMHO. Heck, I would wait until it hit the secondary market.

That being said, the heart wants what the heart wants and who here among us hasn't been foolish at least once.

I would wait until you can buy this at retail or slightly below. The reason there is a $5k premium on this is because these are the first batch shipped and right now it is rare. If we were talking about the SS Pepsi then things are a little different but TT over retail is not sustainable for a very long time. In fact this is the only TT model selling for over retail right now.

I really don’t see Rolex limiting either the TT or RG Root Beer after the first shipments. These are higher margin watches and there will be plenty to go around.

That said if you want to be one of the first and have people notice that you’re wearing one of the hottest new releases right now then pay up! You could also buy it, wear it for some months and sell it before the price starts falling. Then buy it again later on once the price is where it should be.

+1. I would only buy a gray market 2-tone at a discount, even if it’s a new release.

I’d also suggest holding off on paying a premium - that’s just me, though.

Buy High for latest model is totally your choice.

I wouldn't pay anything over MSRP. I can't wrap my head around being "allowed" to buy a luxury item. If it is at an AD and it is not reserved, you should be able to buy it for MSRP.

Davidsw has one for $17995 no tax to CA. That’s your end game. Def not a $20k watch as mentioned previously in the thread.

Exactly. Thanks for finishing my thought.

No reason to buy this now at premium...

MSRP is 14,050. I'm one of those who would never pay over that. Especially for any TT.

$14,050 plus tax would be my absolute top dollar but closer to $11912.50 would be ideal
