Incoming!! 16710 GMT Master I

Dear TRF,

Today is a big day for me - the biggest purchase I have made for myself. I have never owned anything such precious. I have been saving for a long time but another purchase for a 16713 plus a services have set me back quite a bit. While I was playing catchup, the price of 16710 seems to be rising much faster than I can safe. I completely panic when I saw the 126710BLRO hit the Grey Market with a $20k price tag, which TRF members generally agree that it may accelerate the price increase for 16710. I decided that I should pull the trigger in fear of I may get priced out forever. While I was frantically browsing the classifieds section and I saw a Full Set Boston Face to Face only post and I pm the seller immediately.

With the help of many good people of TRF, I was able to get a pretty good idea of the conditions of the 16710 and prep myself so I won't look like an idiot when I meet the seller.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...=608180&page=3

I've never done a Face to Face transaction before so I did not know what to expect. I asked for a viewing and the seller promptly agreed and he asked me to pick a public place. The viewing turned out to be a 3 hours tea chat instead of the secretive meeting in Jason Bourne movies.
Originally I was planning to make the purchase sometime in summer and after I payoff my student loan. Moving up the schedule means I do not have enough money now or I will need to use the savings that I should not touch. So at the viewing I asked the seller if he can knock something off the price or if he can hold it for a few weeks and I am willing to put down a deposit to make it work. He asked me if I'm buying the watch to wear or as an investment. I told him I'm going to wear it, every day. The seller then surprised me with a huge break - I'll pay him a bit more than 50% of the asking price for the watch only and he will give me the rest of the set (B&P & tags) whenever I pay the remainder. I am very grateful that he gave me such a huge break and trusting me.
We met the next day at lunch and completed the first part of the deal.
I'm over the moon happy! As other members have suggested, being able to save up and purchase a nice watch is an achievement itself.

The 40mm watch case is a bit big for my wrist but I think I can handle. But to make the bracelet fit, I will need to remove 2 permanent links which I really prefer not to. So I got to work right away with the newly acquired skills that I learned from the seller and removed the bracelet and swapped it with a red blue NATO.

The red blue NATO doesn't look as good as I was hoping but that's ok. I just need to wait until I get home.

A pink striped NATO!

Or this!

I am really thankful for everyone's kindness and help all this time and putting up with my whining and ignorance. I am also very grateful for Mr. Seller's generosity and trust.

This is truly an amazing community that never stop sharing and supporting

Thank you

Kate

That’s fantastic Kate, congratulations

Kudos to the seller as well, for working with you! He/she didn’t have to do that as this piece sells itself.

Great story all around

Big congrats! Sounds ideal. Enjoy it in good health.
Also, I'd still consider wearing it on Oyster. Best look for the watch in my opinion.
