The awesomeness of the Explorer II

Love this watch the more I wear it. I especially like it by the pool in my slippers.

Where are you now with your Explorer II?

I love mine too. I think its's underrated. But that's OK because people who want them can get their hands on one without having their pants pulled down. My Polar and my Hulk compliment each other rather well for my taste. I hardly wear any of my other watches now because the Rolexs are so stylish, comfortable and a joy to glance at.

EII and LVc is certainly a nice pair. Hard to go out into the wild without one of those on the wrist.

Maybe we should keep the awesomeness of the Explorer II under the radar!

Your right. After looking at it more tonight I have come to the conclusion that it’s not all that awesome. Must have been the scenery that made me appreciate it more than it deserved. Nothin to see here folks....

Love that ad. The Exp2 Polar 42mm is one of my favorites.

When I first seen photos online of it. I honestly had no connection with the watch. My local AD had one in while visiting the shop once and I tried it on. My entire mindset changed on the watch. It wore very well, it had a great wrist presence.

One day I will maybe be lucky enough to make a purchase for one. So shhh keep the awesomeness of it down :)

My (new to me) 16570 is off for service :(

I'm hoping to have it back when I return from a cruise at the end of the month. I was quoted 4-5 weeks as wait time.

I love understated and under the radar watches, but I do struggle a bit with the Explorer II.

As an overall impression, it reminds me of a Tag Heuer from the mid 1990s.

The styling is very soft/rounded compared to virtually all other Rolex models.

Out of interest, what do people wear their Explorer IIs with/for? Could it work with a suit (especially polar dial)?

I've worn my to work a few times without issue (office setting, slacks, dress shirt, no tie). It was totally fine for me. To be fair though, there are people here who wear smart watches on rubber bands and the like, so the Polar Explorer is certainly dressier than those.

Otherwise, it's a great companion for casual wear. Blazers, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, polos. I'd say it's good with just about anything short of a suit needed for dressy occasions.

Owned a black dial for about a year. Sold it, as it just wasn't doing it for me the way some of the other sport models do. Loved the size and feel (solidness) of the piece, but could not get used to the smallish crown and the brush finished bezel.

Just my 2 cents. I'm happy for you that the watch sings to you as you mentioned.

I owned a couple of Tags. Do not see the similarity. I wear mine mostly on the weekend. Wearing it on an Alaskan cruise next week, true to its Polar nature.
