Movement question

I know the PAM 074 40mm houses the el primero movement, do any of the 44mm GMT's have the el primero?

No 44mm with the EP movement, as above there are a few with it, these are:

052, 060, 072, 074, 108, 121 and 122, all of which are 40mm.

There are two EP movements that Panerai use, OP IV and VI, the VI has a flyback function and is used on the 060.

It's ashame that Panerai don't use any fancy movements on the 44mm models, i'd love one, but they're all on the 40mm, infact the nicest one for me is the OP V, which is the Frederic Piguet chrono and is on the 045, it's something i'd love but way out of my league, the 045 is also white gold.

Give the 40mm a try, they do sit well on the wrist and they are a nice size compared to Rolex, even though they're both 40mm the dial is a lot bigger on the PAM.

If you can stretch to it then the 233 is a fantastic watch, 1950s case, GMT and 8 day reserve.

I'm not mad about chronos because of busy look, but yours is a winner. I like the layout. I prefer El Primero subdail layout than more common 7750's layout.

Too bad that Zenith is owned by LMVH (?) and I doubt that Panerai will use them again! Isn't El Pimero movemets are highly regarded?

Yes, the EP movement has been on the go for nearly 40 years now, it was the 'first' mainstay high beat movement, it also looks good with the display backs. As you say LVMH have bought over Zenith, so there will be no more EP movements going towards Panerai, but Panerai are owned by Richemont who also own companies like Jaeger LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin and a couple of other good watchmakers so there is still possibilities that Panerai could use another movement in their Chronos other than ETA, and of course they may well release their own in-house movements in the mid priced ranges.

Richemont should form their own movement manufacture to compete against Swatch Group's ETA. Their own manufacture should be drawn with experience from all of their watch companies in their stable!
