watchmaker closing down - what do I ask for?
Hi guys,
I have just found out a watchmaker my father-in-law gets on very well with is closing down after 50 years in the same shop - in a small suburban shopping centre. He is emptying out everythng and has offered my father-inlaw whatever he wants! He has been repairing Rolex's and other high-end brands for years (the shop is in one of the most expensive areas of Sydney). What should I ask for??? Spare parts? Tools? Any ideas? I don't want to seem greedy, just choosey

Can't go wrong with some tools, or whatever you think you could use. That's too bad he is closing down.

Ask him what he wants to give to you.

I would have a field day with that. Tools, tools, tools. If your interested in learning watch repair of just to dabble then get the tools that you would need to do that. TZ has a watch class that I have taken. It's pretty cool. Good luck and keep us posted.

Any tools and any spare parts are going to be worth money, no doubt about that
Vintage parts are especially valuable, and particularly those of vintage Rolex sports watches.

If you've got space for it, try getting his bench and light(s)?

Imagine a draw full of vintage sports dials. £250,000 worth stuffed in a tatty envelope.
