Which Came First, Tudor or Rolex?

I am curious, if you own both, which did you acquire first? Was a Tudor your gateway to Rolex? Or, did your interest in Rolex grow to include Tudor?

Got me a Daytona first. Then a Tudor BB Bronzy and then a Rolex again. I liked bronzy more than the Rolex Subs!

I liked the Tudor's diver quite a bit. It has a leather strap and something unique that Rolex didn't offer. But yeah, Rolex opened the doors towards Tudor. But that is about it when it comes to Tudor for me.

I now wear the Tudor more than I do the Rolex.

Interesting mix, thanks for responding. It occurs to me that, if I weren't so technically challenged, this would have made a good poll.

Rolex first for me.

My love for Tudor really started with the North Flag although it took over 2 years before I finally decided to purchase as I kept talking myself out of it.

There are a number of Rolex and Tudor models I would really like to add at some point but it may take a while as I try and limit myself to 1 watch a year in order to allow each piece a fair amount of wrist time and to fully appreciate it

Rolex for me first. Last year purchased an ETA BBR that had been on my radar since they were released and that is what lead me down the rabbit hole with Tudor! Purchased 5 Tudors last year and 1 this year, so far!

5 Rolex, then a Tudor and the last one is a Rolex.

The whole In 40 years since my parents offered me a 5513 for my 18th birthday.

Among the 5 first Rolex, I sold 3 of them.

The Tudor 79270 with Rolex markings came late within this four decades: only one month ago. And the last Rolex (16618 with blue dial) two weeks ago.

And I like my Tudor! just as my GMT 16700.

Last thing, about the interest for Tudor: when I got the 5513 at 18, a friend of mine had been offered a Big Block. And I adored his watch with the date and chronograph dials, its impressive height. At that time Tudor was considered by many as the tool watch division of Rolex, with different movements but with the same quality of built.

First a TAG. Then Omega. Then two Rolex (one at a time), then Omega, and finally now a Tudor... bit I’m also into Seiko Autos and Citizen Eco-Drives (I’ve given up on battery watches). As long as a watch sings to me I’ll wear it. This hobby is more fun (to me at least) when I learned to appreciate watches and not just brands.....

I first heard of Tudor at the AD's while shopping for my Rolex. Had the Rolex first anyway.
As I learned more about both brands (thanks TRF), I came to appreciate Tudor for what it is and added two of them along the way.
Will be adding one more of each down the road...

Why on this green earth would you want a leather strap on a dive watch?

I bought two datejusts years ago.
After my renewed interest years later and starting over I did start with a Tudor and a few others which I briefly enjoyed and flipped but it didn't take long at all before the Rolex bug bit me now more than ever.
I now also have two Tudors which I enjoy very much as well.

Over the years... a couple of Seikos, then a few Rolexes, then a few Tudors, then a few more (vintage) Seikos again. Still ongoing with the vintage Seikos.

When I started the watch thing, Tudor wasn't marketed in the US.

By the time that was corrected, I owned four Rolex watches.

Now I have five Rolex and four Tudor.

There isn't a right or wrong way to go about this hobby.

It was a series of Timex chronographs that got me interested in collecting watches.

Rolex first, Tudor second. Then came a second Rolex, and then a second Tudor.

Guess the next one will have to be a Rolex to keep the pattern going...

First better than the average watch was a Rolex submariner
Afterwards as good as every brand followed

AP, breguet, panerai, IWC, Lange, GP, UN, Zenith, patek, and many others
Between 1995 and 2010 Tudor did not make watches I cared about
That changed when they made the black bay
Absolutely love this watch and bought a couple since 2012
