LN or BLNR?

Hi, new to the Forum here and wanted to get some opinions from the more seasoned members.

Got the call from the AD for an LN .
I actually really want a BLNR or BLRO. However, I’m not an “established client” with the AD yet and they reserve these pieces for their preferred clients on their min 6 month waitlist. And I can only afford one at the moment.

Take it or hold out? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Wait for the one you really want. Don't settle. Especially since you can presently only afford one.

Get the one you really want. Wait for the Batman rather than settling on a watch that you'll live to regret.

Settling is the worst thing you can do. Last thing you want to do is look at your wrist and wish it was something else, especially when you are paying that kind of money for a watch.

don't buy a watch because its offered. Nothing in your post leads me to believe you want it.

Its close to 10k, so its not the same as the store being out of fruit loops and you deciding to bring home fruity o's instead.

You guys aren’t getting the OP’s point. He’s implying that the AD will not give him a BLNR or BLRO if he doesn’t make a purchase of a less in demand watch first. Chances of getting a call on a BLNR or BLRO as a first time customer with zero purchase history is slim to none.

OP: Best bet is to pick up tha BLNR in th Gray market. One can be had at DavidSW for 1500+ premium.

For sure, get the one you really want. However, you could buy the LN now and wear that until your BLNR shows up. In this climate you may very well get your money back straight up on the resale of the LN.

If i dont also want the "other" watch then no way, never buy something you dont want. If i wanted a DD or something for example and they wanted me to buy that first. No problem as i wanted it anyway. win-win.

Wait for the one you really want, otherwise you might regret it. If you can be patient that is, due to the waiting list time, depending on the AD and relationship.

The LN is no slouch. It’s a timeless classic.

You can get it and a few things will happen. 1) you’ll possibly move up on their list. 2) you’ll decide you don’t like the way the LN wears (which is the same as a BLNR) flip it and get something other than the BLNR. 3) you get the LN, fall in love with it, and decide you don’t want a BLNR. 4) you get it, enjoy it for several months, then flip it for the BLNR.

I find my LN to be more versitile than my BLNR. Food for thought.

If you don’t get the BLNR, you will suffer every time you see one.

Don't dismiss the LN just because of the BLNR madness on the forum. Both are great pieces. Many, including me, prefer the LN for its classic look and versatility. Go to the AD and try it on. You'll know if it's for you or not...

Thanks Ks6pd, some very reasonable things to consider

Hi Frank, I checked out DavidSW. The difficult thing is I’m in Canada and given the exchange rate, it would end up being a $2400 USD premium, and then I’d have to add the import duty on top of that (I’m guessing another 15-20%).

Try on the LN in case you haven't already, just in case it sings to you. But if it doesn't, then hold out for the watch you really want. Either put yourself on the waitlist at another AD that will eventually sell you the watch, or just cough up the extra money for a grey-market watch that will be in your hands tomorrow.

Buy what you want. With Rolex SS you would need patience. And patience always pays off :)

I'd pick up the LN. Love the touches of green, shame the watch is overlooked for the BLNR hype.

I prefer the LN but you should get the watch you want. However, you should see it in person first before deciding.

This is a true statement, in my experience! I always end up trading ones that “did not sing to me”. Get the one that sings to you.🤙
