Saturday was one for the books ( Porsche and picture heavy)

Long story short - I purchased a new Cayman last year and had scheduled PEC delivery. However, do to the redesign of the 2018 Cayman, all were held by customs awaiting government approval for emissions. I decided to skip the delivery to go ahead and get my car. Nearly a year later, I managed to get on the track and cash in all of my gift certificates.

Arrived bright and early...

The new Mission E, aka the Taycan, was waiting on us in the lobby:

So many great cars in the museum (most of these are privately owned and just displayed in the museum)

Checkout that interior:

Rolex Content:

My playground for the day:

They also fed us a great lunch - all on the house:

I cannot tell you how great the day really was. Being able to drive as fast as you want in a controlled environment is truly amazing. Learning what my vehicle can do is even better. I'm hooked. Probably signing up for the two day course offered at Barber's Motorsport Park in the very near future.

Sorry, but no video or action shots.

Sounds like a real blast! Always fun to drive in a track, especially with pros to help make you better.

Awesome experience! Congrats on the 718.

I love the PEC. It's such a great place ... I was there in Dec. '16 and the all the people I encountered there were top notch. I was in Atlanta for the day for work and didn't have enough time to drive ... but I was able to do a ride-along in a GT4 with one of the pros. I own a GT4 and was still completely blown away! I would love to do the GT3 experience next time.

Congratulations! What a great car! I was also considering a Cayman last year.... until I remembered i had two small children Would really love a Carrera, but wife isn't thrilled with the idea and convincing her that the backseats will be fine for our kids is no easy task.

What A Great Day Nick!

Did you get to push the car(s) to the limit and feel like you really know what your car is capable of now?

Also... You mentioned you got to "cash in all of my gift certificates." I am in the process of getting a new Porsche Macan. Did you get the certificates when you bought the car or were they a gift from someone? Just wondering if we should ask for them in negotiation process?

I felt like I really pushed the limits. My instructor told me that he and the other instructors, can hit a top speed of 93mph on the track. That is with the perfect line and conditions. I hit 90mph, so I was very pleased with my driving. That being said, the car is capable of so much more than I originally thought. The brakes...the brakes are amazing!

I know 90 does not sound very fast, but I can promise you that taking a corner at 70 is quite thrilling.

BTW - I saw one of the instructors drive the Macan GTS nearly as fast as the Caymans. It was both impressive and scary.

Regarding the gift certificates - I ordered my car exactly the way I wanted. At the time, Porsche was offering free PEC delivery for anyone that ordered a custom car. The PEC delivery included my car being delivered to PEC Atlanta. The car would be under some fancy Porsche sheet that someone would pull off the car. Then, a Porsche rep would walk me through all the features, etc. After the delivery experience is complete, I would have received 1.5 hours of track time in a Cayman and then a fancy lunch in Restaurant 356.

I had to skip the delivery, so I was given a voucher for the drive time and a $125 gift certificate to Restaurant 356.

However, Porsche has amazing customer service. When I was checking in, the lady asked why I had the gift certificate and voucher. I explained to them about the emissions issue that caused me to miss my PEC delivery date. She apparently made it known to a few other people. I was given a nice little private tour and my instructor knew all about me before he met me. Additionally, we spent about $180 in the restaurant (appetizers, wine, entrees, dessert, etc) and the entire bill was comped. I was not expecting that. I figured I would pay the amount over the $125, but Porsche took care of it for me.

My son works for corporate Porsche Cars N.A., he gets to play there all the time, I really hate him at times.
