Don't know about bargains, but was in Central London today - every open AD I looked in was like a ghost town - empty!

I was able to squeeze what I thought was a good deal on a used Bluesy today from the local stealer in Aberdeen.

Dont know how he would be on a new watch but he was keen to show me his new DD II and do his level best to sell it to me.

I can afford a used one but simply cannot justify what he was needing (even with the Tax off).

Good luck in your hunt.

Scooba, I ended up trading an ExpII (plus some cash) for the sub but I could have got it for 2.9k for straight cash.

Its a 2004 model, one owner (known to the AD) and is very clean indeed, including all papers, anchor etc.

The one which Marke has mentioned sounds to be an even better deal if your willing to go down that route.

Good luck.

There won't be any Rolexes in sales, per se, but expect discounts. If you push for one, most ADs will be looking to seal the deal.

Not seen any midlands way, and believe me I have been looking!

Local AD won't budge, but he may be in for a shock when he can't get in his safe for Rolex's

Maybe its a bit early and they are hoping to snare a few at full price on the unwary. Then maybe the price drops.....

Will keep you informed if anything happens

As a thought I wonder how much buying (and therefore bargaining power) TRF may have?

I went into an AD in Oxford Str here in central London on Boxing Day. The salesperson offered me 10% discount on all TT models. But none on SS models :-S

So what did I do? I bought a LV. Now I got two.

Leslie Davies on Oxford str offered me 10% off on TT models. I couldnt get any on SS models.

btw a funny story. While I was talking to the salesperson about getting a GV when I was buying the LV. The store manager heard the conversation and said that it is very very hard to get one and he can flip GVs for BIG MONEY up to 5-8 times!!!

I thought what did he eat for breakfast this morning and the salesperson made some wierd gestures by looking at me with a wicked smile which indicate how stupid his boss was. LOL!

Shhh... I think Rolex "frown" on discounting. One dealer in Edinburgh suddenly stopped showing any Rolex stock when they had a Summer-Sale. I don't know if they just withdrew their stock from display or lost their dealership.

If your AD is in Nottingham they wont be getting anything new in for a while. Their parent company is in BIG trouble and so the chain in Nottingham can't buy any more stock. Go up the A52 to Derby and get one there.

You will never see Rolex in a sale as such. However, discounts are available and probably easier to get at independents than chains other than the 10% signet card.

I would expect no more than 10% off s/s watches. T/T and gold will be down to the ability of the buyer to get the best price.

S/S Daytonas are easier to get from independents than chain stores IMHO. I waited 3 years for my first and then they were like London buses. I believe it is more a game of trying to get one at retail that drives most people. I have a black faced 4130 thin hands model and I've worn it no more than 5 times since new. It was all about the chase.

Much nicer watches to be looking for than the Daytona imho.
