What to buy next?
So I will be buying a new Rolex soon. I have been pondering over what to choose for the last 2-3 months now.
First I was set on a Datejust, this one here Borrowed from DavidSW. I already have this So I figured a smooth bezel and oyster bracelet would compliment it perfectly. And I love the DJ's in 36mm perfect size, weight, fit and look for me. Then however I did see a Explorer II and was reminded how much I miss my old Explorer II Polar. But I do not just want any Explorer II Polar. I want the 16570 with the 3186 Movement. This one here, also from DavidSW However it can take time before DavidSW gets one in stock or for me to find one somewhere else. Then all of a sudden I did see SearChart's 34mm OP with olive green dial. I have never seen this before and in my mind it is the best looking of all Rolex's I have ever seen. The combination of this watch is just amazing to me. However I have never seen it in person, only in pictures so I might change my mind when I try one on. The downside with this one is that it is only 34mm (I prefer 36-40mm) and it has no date. I have tried wearing watches with no date and I find myself looking 40 times a day on my watch to check the date and it just annoys me immensely not to have a date. So I could only wear it for special occasions, weekends and vacations. And I like my watches to be every day beaters. So what to get? Also I am playing with the thought of buying the Datejust 36mm now and then either the Explorer II or the OP later on. I cannot have both because I am really a one watch guy. I do not rotate watches I put it on and it stays on for months and even years at the time. So having 3 watches would mean that each watch would probably only see wrist time ever 6 months or so. Other then the OP I would try to remember to put on in weekends and special occasions. Thanks for reading this long post. What would you do?

If you like the smooth bezel I would suggest dropping buy an AD and trying the 34mm and 36mm OP and smooth bezel datejust all on together. They should all be readily available to try on in an AD.
I'm considering a 36mm OP or smooth bezel DJ or 16030 myself as well as one or two others as my next watch as well. Probably leaning towards the OP the most as I prefer no date. |
