How to choose pillow for reducing neck pain?

Does anyone suffer from the same problem? Can a good pillow be really helpful in this case?

I’ve bought several expensive pillows and cheapo tj max pillows work best for me. I’m a side sleeper though.

I "borrowed" one from a hotel in New Delhi several years ago and I've loved it ever since. I wish I knew where to get a new one...it didn't have any tags.

I’d find out what could be the issue first.

I have a mem foam pillow but only because it was 3am and I drunk ordered.

I still sleep a solid 12 hrs.

Some folks have neck pain from relatively early ages - 40s on.
Depends on what you have done to your neck during your life and whether you have developed a 'condition'.
I used to have constant neck pain from looking at a computer screen until I removed the screen from it's stand and mounted it with the bottom edge resting on the desk AND got a pair of special 'computer spectacles' made for a 500mm focal length.
Still have occasional discomfort mainly due to sleeping position. Have tried various types of pillow but have not been able to solve it.
I assume it is just a problem with the Cervical vertebra.

I use 2. I buy relatively cheap ones and choose the best combo.

I have bought dozens of pillows over the years. One may feel good for sleeping on my back and another when I switch to my side, so I would keep two by the bed every night.

I bought one from Amazon called the Coop Home Goods Eden Pillow which uses shredded memory foam. It comes packed to the gills with foam and you can remove as much as you want to achieve the perfect level. Then, when sleeping, you can adjust the foam location in the pillow. Perfect for us who change positions alot at night. Expensive, but worth it so far.

A pure conscience is the best pillow.

Good advice, pillow or no pillow at all, the discomfort comes from psychological stress/pressure during the waking hours. Getting rid of the root cause will make the symptoms go away.

I rest my head on a bag of money usually when I sleep.

I have a tempur pillow and mattress, only downside is hot weather.
I got my pillow from my mom, she used it for a week and hated it, I tried it one night and immediately ditched my old pillow.

I believe most places have a return policy so I'd visit one of the stores to get some advice and just try a few for some nights and see what you like best.

Every four months, I go to Home Goods, get their fiber filled filled extra firm pillows and I'm good for another 4 months. Pillows are disposable, they lose their density and support and even expensive ones do, they last a little longer but really they shouldn't be kept more than 6 months unless you can wash them, especially if you have allergies or are side sleeper (drooler).

I was getting neck pain whilst sleeping. Reduced thickness and problem lessened a lot. Seems like having too high a pillow was causing this mostly.

Goose down, medium to for, fill pillow. I’m a side sleeper and find this help to support my head properly.

Believe it or not, the pillow case is just as important for me. I use 800 thread count cotton.

I use this and ordered a piece of one inch foam to boost it a bit taller. My issue wasn't just neck pain but vertigo as well, from my head leaning back too much with various pillows. I take it when I travel as well.

I would suggest you exercise regularly to reduce the back pain. That is the only option which will work surely. I am experiencing the result.

I use one for The bottom that is very soft, and place a firm thin pillow on top of it... no idea why I just know what works for me!

I agree with you. once I started training and taking part in triathlons my neck pain went away.

as for fancy chairs, you are better off not sitting down for large parts of your day.
