Anyone import a watch from Japan? Using EMS shipping Japanpost?

I am contemplating buying a watch from Japan, Im located in the US. Is there anything I should be aware of?

Watch is 4-5k

Import Tax amt-?

Watch being held at customs until I pay Import tax?

Who actually delivers it to my place? Is it picked up by an second deliverer: FedEx, UPS, USPS etc....

HELP!

Thanks

I never ordered a big ticket item from Japan so I can't help when it comes to duties and fees. The four watches I ordered from Japan were all shipped by EMS and the shipping was amazingly fast.

I had a USPS worker handle the final leg of the delivery in my case.

When watch enters into the US, do you get contacted or something? What would the US customs need from me??

You'll need the "Record of Purchase of Consumption Tax-Exempt for Export" form. The seller should fill it out and provide it.

I have ordered from Japan before, value is under $1600 though. I didn't have to pay import tax on it.

Wondering how much did you have to pay?

From some places i read the threshold is $2500. I paid $167, i think its a % past the $2500 mark. so if you were to spend big bucks, you might pay up for it.
