First post and my first Rolex. I’ve been a fan since 1992 when I worked for an AD in collage. I could have purchased one at that time for about $1,500 with the employees discount! I decided it was too much to spend in collage and didn’t purchase. Years later after graduation and a few years of employment decided to buy a nice watch and again looked at the Sub. In my infinite wisdom decided to buy an Ebel 1911.

Fast forward 15 years or so...went on a cruise to the Caymans and got bit by the bug! I was on the ship calling my AD and trying to determine what price would be acceptable. AD in the US said no discount on Sub (a guy who consistently offers 20-25% off) and advised that I should purchase the watch in the Caymans. With my wife and two daughters in tow we all purchased the Sub together to end a very fun day. After wearing it for a couple of weeks I know now that I should have bought it years ago!

Kirk Freeport comes through again. I got my GMT II LN there three months ago, and I hope to find a Sub ND when I get there again next week.

Sonia was very helpful at Kirk and the experience was fantastic. They had a ND version in the store during my visit - I bought date version which wasn’t in the store but they went and got it from the other location. I’m now eyeballing the rose gold YM. Just looked at on in OK - seems like they are more willing to discount that model in the US. Will do the homework in other locations I visit but likely next on my newly forming hit list.

My experience was some what the same. First Rolex was a DJ. I looked at Subs. Decided they were a little big for me.

I still have my DJ and 4-5 other watches later - I decided that I wanted a SS Sub. Of course now they are scarce. Took me a month and I have looked back. Love the watch.
