Rolex Instagram

I note that today Rolex have posted their black, No Date Submariner, encouraging viewers to click on their link to find out more about this wonderful watch.

Why are they doing this? Certainly here in the UK, there is no AD as far as I am aware that are likely to have a SS Submariner in stock, and if the odd one has, they are not going to be allocated to new enquiries generated from the Rolex/AD websites?

Whilst I fully understand if Rolex are putting a hold on producing or distributing SS watches, this would suggest to me they would be marketing other watches. Not watches that people cannot get?

So either I am missing the point, or does this herald the fact that Rolex are about to release a load of Submariners?

They tend to do this with models that get replaced at the upcoming Basel event.

Let the rumors begin.

It's to drive the Rolex demand! The harder to get, the more people want it. I find if you're patient and ready to pay on the spot, the ADs around Toronto can get you one.

The more "people who are into watches" are wanting to get it. For most people (who buy a luxury watch as a status symbol), it literally doesn't matter and they switch to the next thing.

just my $.02

generating interest is not dependent on that model sitting on an AD shelf.

Think cars. How many times do people buy whats on the lot? Almost every time. You may look online and build your ideal model with the configurator but when you show up at the dealership they never have the exact build and most people dont order one and wait six months. They buy the closest car to what they want and its often a totally different color and its also not the version in the commercial that made you want that car in the first place.

The no date sub is one of the easiest sports models you can get.
