Iced out watches - Warranty

Does someone know if icing out a watch (putting diamonds on the bracelet - case - bezel) is voiding the warranty ?

Also what are you guys opinion on the matter ? Do or don't? Custom or factory ?

Yes it will void your warranty, no I do not like it (maybe would when I was 21). Do whatever makes you happy as you will be able to find somebody to service your watch, for a nice fee, of course.

Factory is king but it will cost you... I wouldn't worry about warranty but rather that some ADs/Rolex repair centers might not want to work on it even if you pay for it.

As with cars, I think the only additions should be through the manufacturer.

Why ruin a watch by adding bling..
If you want say a diamond dial submariner get a serti dialed original.

Once you custom you lose value...unless it's done by Rolex your on a downhill path...

Look at there line there may be a watch you like.

And your warranty would be voided as would proper Rolex service...you may as well walk in the shop with a snake ..they won't go near it

Out of interest, what watch are you wanting to customise?

Thought about buying an op or datejust for my sister as a gift and icing it out.

I have seen some of the work done to ice out watches and while some of it is good I have never seen anything that looks as good as OEM. Find what you want in the secondary market that is OEM and go from there.

I appreciate the advice but I'm not gonna buy my sister a gift on the secondary market.
I would for myself, but not as a gift for someone dear to me.

Yes, any change unless done by RSC will void the warranty, for example, they add a diamond dial to your DD because that is an oem available option, this is covered.
Add a diamond bezel to your Sub or OP and your out.

Diamonds are okay, but I only accept it if it's a factory available option. But I love shiny things, if there were a black baguette diamond dial for an 114060, I would not be able to take that thing off.
That's heresy around here but I don't fancy my Rolex to be no tool watch, that's my Suunto.

I think it’s a bad idea. I suggest a two tone rose gold Datejust 36. It’s a nice watch and way better than a bustdown OP. The watch will no longer be waterproof and it will be very hard to sell should she decide to for any reason.

Vladdy probably offers a warranty on his bling-bling iced out watches.

Warranty voided. I wouldn’t do it. If you did do it, I’d go for factory.

I do think the rainbow Daytona is kind of awesome actually, as well as the leopard Daytona.

I guess a lot of people dont know this but you can actually buy iced out watches from Rolex directly and you dont have to worry about warranty.

Most people dont worry about warranty if they can afford $30k watch

It's not just about the warranty. As far as I'm aware, they won't even service your watch unless it includes restoring it to original condition.

The cost of an iced out Rolex from the factory versus one from vladi is probably about half price. So you have to figure saving $30,000 versus having warranty... Take your pick

There are plenty of other places to get it serviced
I have 40 yr old Rolex that have never been serviced so i'm not concerned

There are many quality jewelers who apply excellent pave settings and do not compromise the depth rating

Iced out watches are popular and there is little supply so you shouldnt lose money if you buy right

factory works just fine for me, any changes could likely void the warranty.
