Is it a good decision to sell your Rolex to a very close friend ?

And do a good businees as well ?

What about future claims if there were ? Does it make sense ?

Mmmm, tough decision (for me at least)

If your friend wants to buy the watch from you and you no longer want it then I see no reason why it would be a bad decision.

Rolex doesn't care whose name is on the card in the event of a warranty claim.

Cash only though.

Of course not. If you consider him a friend, do not conduct any kind of business with him.

I sold an Exp II Polar to a good friend, made him a smoking deal - helped him get his 1st Rolex. It was very well advertised as an “as is” arrangement. He knew I took good care of it. Months later, guess what?....we are still friends.

As long as he has the cash

He inspects and does his due diligence

Cash or cashiers check

HE doesnt ask you to carry part of the cost

You have him sign a handwritten contract stating the condition and that it is as-is, and there are no returns

And lastly that both of you will arbitrate before any court action...lol

I'd be ok selling to a friend, but i'd first solicit the best offer I could from a third party and then give my friend the right of first refusal on the terms.

That way later there's no "I undersold" or "I overpaid" because you have a firm example of someone who would have taken it under the same terms. IMO this would be the ideal way to do it

If you’re both happy with the deal and neither of you are losing out by doing so then why not.

Just be sure it’s sold as seen and your friend is fully on board with that. Or agree to split the cost of a service before sale and then it’s a clean hand over in ‘mint’ running condition.

I sell bunch of them to my good friend for MSRP price, but I would get annoyed if he sells it for profit within a year. If I sell him Daytona C for 12K and he sells it for 20K, I would be WTF....

As long as he is happy with the price and you know that the watch is perfect and you aren’t selling him a dud then I say it’s a perfect situation

I tend to avoid business dealings with friends or family. It just closes the door on a lot of potential problems.

I generally avoid doing any business, buying/selling with friends and family! If anything were to go wrong can cost that relationship! If anything were to happen to the watch or even regular Maintainance requirement can cause tension in the relationship even if they keep their concern to themselves if something were to happen to the watch......... not worth risking a friendship even if you’re 100% sure of the watch!

I would sell if it was clear that the sale is a business and nothing to do with friendship. Also that the watch condition or cash value is acceptable to both with no misgivings and no further claims.

If it is not a very clear and arms length sale then I wouldn’t.

To family definitely NO bec you really can’t take away the blood relation out of any picture.

I sold my GMT LN to a good friend/ business partner at my cost, which at the time was $1500 below what a dealer offered me, but that's what I promised him when he first said he wanted to buy it. I added a condition that if he ever wanted to sell it, that he had to sell it to me for no more than $500 above what he paid. He'll likely keep it, but I have since decided to let him out of our "verbal contract", so that if he sells it, he can probably get $2,500 above what he paid. I have no regrets. Not all "friends" are created equal though.

Under want scenario are you selling to a friend? If the watch is brand new I don’t see how there is a problem. As a friend he should understand anything can happen...

It’s kind of confusing? Is there something wrong with the watch you are selling?

I am in this camp. Firmly. There is no upside in dealing with a friend compared to a stranger but the downside is huge.
