Icon8 Avoid Shreve San Francisco

I was out in SF recently, going to a number of shops to try some pieces on, see what was new, etc.

When I arrived at Shreve, I felt like it must have been my lucky day - they had a white 116500 in stock. I tried it on and fell in love immediately. However, when I told the salesperson I'd purchase it, they replied it's "for display only" (?!). Knowing there isn't an allocation for "display pieces", I pushed a bit, but they stuck by their story.

While many pieces are hard to get, and there are always those mystery "lists" we all get on, I've never before seen a situation where you can try something on that's right there in front of you, but be refused a sale with a bogus reason.

It's hard enough for us to get watches from ADs as it is, but when you can go into a shop, try something on and still not be allowed to make a purchase, what's the point in even going to somewhere like Shreve in the first place?
