Stainless BLRO or Blue Sky-Dweller

Gentlemen:

Would appreciate your assistance with the following dilemma or debacle as the case may be. I am a one watch at a time man. To date, I have owned a steel/gold sub (blue dial), a s/s daytona (white) and a 116710LN (which I wore for 8 years). I sold the LN over 9 months ago in anticipation of the blue Sky-Dweller. Since then, my iPhone has served as my time-piece. However, since the arrival of the stainless BLRO - I am torn. I prefer the Oyster bracelet, but the Jubilee is growing on me. Like others - my grail is a rose G DD (unknown dial), however, I am not comfortable with that as my daily. I have an incoming stainless BLRO and anticipate access to a blue Sky by the end of this year. Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You're torn over two watches that you don't have or haven't seen yet.

Buy whichever comes first. If and when the second arrives, decide then whether or not to buy and sell what you have or pass.

Easy.

Easy! Buy whatever you can get your hand on since there're a big fat chance that you won't get both at the same time. And Good luck on getting either one.

You can never go wrong with both but I would go with BLRO, just personal preference.

Honestly both watches are really hard to get..... so ..... IF you get offered one.... and only IF!! Then take it! You can’t go wrong with either!
And if you don’t like it, you can simply trade it for the other model you like
Without a strong relationship or having your AD being your cousin, chances of getting both together isn’t very high

Both great. I prefer the BLRO.
Curious, how'd you get lucky with the incoming BLRO? AD or secondary?
Buy what you love. I prefer the sport models. I love the look of the SkyD but it's never reall been om my radar.

If you're paying over AD MSRP. I would say non. The blue SS SkyD is going for near 22k. Get yourself a used all gold Sub, GMT, Daytona for just a little more.

Thank you for all respective comments thus far. To be clear, both watches are being purchased from an AD at list.

Have they given you an ETA on either one? The blue Sky-Dweller is a long wait at most ADs, especially smaller ones. The BLRO is too new to know how supply will be long-term. Curious what you've been quoted since many of us are still waiting.

I think of go with the Blue Sky if I was going to only have one watch. Sky Dweller handles the dual roles (dress vs sport) better than the GMT to my eyes.

Sorry. You lost me at "one watch at a time man."

Seriously, I feel more comfortable with a Diver/GMT on my wrist, so I would go with the BLRO.

SkyD for the win. More versatile, better color, oyster bracelet.

I think the Skydweller is pretty, and functionally pretty avant garde for Rolex. But it doesn’t sing to me in any configuration enough to want to buy one. GMT is very doable as a solo watch collection.

I used to think the GMT was my favourite Rolex, but now that I have a GMT LN and a TT White dial Sky-Dweller, I think I’d keep the Sky-Dweller. I love the look, it has dual time zone capability, and the Annual Calendar feature is amusing as well

Hopefully I never have to chose.

I'd look to get both but if you only need one, I'd probably (?) go BLRO as it might be a little easier to wear on a day0to-day basis vs the larger and bunker SkyD. Having said that, the Blue SKyD is a stunning watch with a great feature set.

I find the BLRO coloring to be little more than a conceit. I think the Sky D is much more of a watch in so many ways. It relies less on catchy colors reminiscent of yesteryear's entry into trans continental/oceanic flight and much more on Rolex's state of the art technical skill. But that is just my opinion. Frankly go with what appeals to you the most; damn what other would choose. For me the advanced mechanics of the SkyD called to me so much that I was the first to order one in my area. I have little desire for the BLRO as eventually I tired of my 16700 with its changeable inserts; I can't imagine being stuck permanently with the blue/red bezel insert.

That blue SkyD looks epic in in a suit. Besides a DD nothing comes close to looking so good on a well dressed man. And in jeans it looks like you are just on another level with your tastes. If you find your adventuress life style makes you want to take your watch anywhere then the BLRO is the better option.
But if if it's just a metropolitan way of life then the SkyD. I would get the SkyD, just looks like no other Rolex.

Without a doubt the BLRO and I own both SS SKyD with black dial as well as BLRO. The BLRO is a much more comfortable watch. The SkyD is great but even with a 7.5" wrist it's just too big to be an every day watch for me. Either way both great watches but if only one no comparison IMHO.
