Searching for my first AP
Looking to purchase my first AP and of course I am very interested in the 15400 blue dial. I visited the AP boutique in NYC this weekend and was shocked at how empty the cases were, but they had received a gray dial 15400 that I was able to look at. Someone had put a deposit on the watch an hour before I arrived, which was probably lucky as I may have walked out with the gray dial when I really want the blue. They did have a nice blue Jumbo, it was a demo watch and not for sale.
My question is, are people still seeing insane waiting times for the blue dial 15400. Is it even worth the hunt at this point? Are the white and gray dial 15400 pretty easy to find, or was it just luck I stumbled upon one. Any guidance is appreciated |

Wait lists for the 15400 do exist, not sure on how long or how much back log there is. Mine is supposedly due sometime in November

This is a VERY popular watch. You were lucky to find the gray dial

I think the blue might have a long wait, but they over quote to over deliver! that's what a few members have experienced so far

Searching for my first AP
My understanding is that the ruthenium dial is boutique only as well.
Choose the color you like and then put a deposit. It’ll make the acquisition that much more worth it. |

Seems like it’s much easier to get a blue 15400 as a second purchase but first time customer might be difficult. Other dials I would expect a 0- 3 month wait.

Don't be afraid to to buy a gray dial if you like it more, it really is gorgeous. Also the blue 15400 is not the same blue as your picture with is a 15202 jumbo.

AP with it's allocated boutique only Blue dial and forums such as this one have done a great job of really hyping up the blue dial when the real star of the show is the watch itself and not the dial color. They are all really nice in their own ways, buy what you like not what is most limited or hyped. I saw all 4 colors before deciding on my ruthenium, but in all honesty black and silver weren't far behind. Pick the one you like and you won't go wrong.

Blue is the hardest to find (customary).
I would say the 3 others colors (white/silver, black, grey) are about the same in availability. It depends where you are. I've seen either a grey 15450 or 15400 in stock (when they come in stock) where I'm located. The black and silver always seem to go quick and/or waitlist. Overall 15400 market has tighten up. |

Searching for my first AP
OP,
Your first picture seems to be a black dial not a ruthenium dial in my eyes. Personally, I’m getting the black dial 15400 as I find it makes the contrast with the markets pop like no other color. Blue would be nice but less versatile for a watch I want to wear with everything. Ruthenium Dial I find a little flush. One thing to note that the blue on the /202 is flat compared to a more shiny blue of the /400. I prefer the latter between the 2. Not to mention the /202 has a quirky movement, which does not have a seconds hand or a quick set date. My opinion of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I just heard back from a representative at the NYC boutique and they stated they will not receive anymore pieces that are not already spoken for until 2019, and that I should check back in with them in December to see if they are taking deposits for “rare” pieces.
Knew this process wouldn’t be easy, but this seems a little ominous. |
